We stopped for a late lunch and really enjoyed the whole experience. The staff were friendly, efficient and helpful and the setting lovely, with various outdoor eating areas. There’s no view, however, but it’s a peaceful and healthy spot.
My friend and I shared the cheese and salmon platter (38 dollars) as it was a special occasion. Absolutely delicious. The smoked salmon was top quality and the three cheeses were excellent, not too strong yet still tasty. The Pinot noir wine by the glass (9 dollars) was very good indeed, and we also enjoyed coffees ... soya milk and almond milk were available for my vegetarian bordering on vegan friend. Milk shakes were also available, and beer, of course.
There is also a shop selling condiments, cheeses, honey, bread etc, and you can see the cheese being made through a large window.

We were on a tour of 20 people and visited the cheese company. We were given generous samples of the cheeses which was served with bread. My favourite was Bella cheese which was rather expensive but I bought some to bring home. We were served samples of wheat beer as well and this is brewed on the premises. Please visit this place when you are at Bruny Island.

Of course the cheese place has to be on your list of places to visit if coming to Bruny Island... Unless you're lactose intolerant. We had the tasting platter for $5... Then decided it wasn't enough cheese so we got a cheese board which came with some smoked salmon and SO much cheese. Well 2 kinds of cheese but a lot for 2 people. We actually had to take away the hard cheese. The cheeses were nice, the wood fired home made bread was delicious. We also got a pie which was nice - maybe needed more gravy/sauce inside.
We actually wanted the cheese toasties but by the time we arrived at 10ish they had sold out! Was super disappointed. If you want a toasted sandwich come early is our tip. We have never had one but they must be pretty good to sell out so quick

Unfortunately this place was either understaffed or poorly run, as service was incredibly slow and we ordered a tasting paddle of beer and all 4 beers were incredibly flat. When we questioned this the lady did apologise and admitted they were having some issues. So perhaps don’t sell them in the first place, as it took us 3 attempts to flag down staff to get o money back.
We preserved the ploughmans platter, overpriced. We told staff we didn’t like soft cheese so she offered to include the two harder cheeses, but unfortunately we received a soft cheese. I waited at the counter twice to ask about it and someone promise to get back to me and never did. Very expensive platter to only enjoy one piece if cheese.
Just seems poorly run, and such a huge disappointment when this was meant to be a huge highlight of our trip to Bruny island

We had a lovely morning at Bruny Island Cheese, thoroughly enjoying a cheese platter, coffee and then following up with a beer tasting paddle and some great banter with Tom the owner. The bush setting is beautiful, with plenty of seating scattered around. The cheese was out of this world, and the platter came with a detailed info sheet and lots of house made bread. Similarly the beer tasting was very informed and thoroughly enjoyable. The kids can watch cheese making through the window, and there's a well stocked larder of Tasmanian produce to buy. This was one of our favourite spots in Bruny, and definitely worth a visit!

If you watched The Gourmey Farmer on SBS you will know who Nick Haddow is.
Nick is currently the only cheese maker in Australia certified to make cheese from raw milk. You can really taste the difference in his raw milk cheese. The milk all comes from Nick's own herd.
The cheeses are expensive, but you expect to pay for artisan products.
We had a tasting paddle of some of the beer being produced. Each was a good representation of the styles.
Very pleasant setting to while away an afternoon when visiting Bruny Island.
Try mid week as it was very busy when we were there on a public holiday. The wait for the ferry was almost 1.1/2 hours

They were very busy when we attended and the staff were unable to cope. Many things on the menu weren't available. A man in front of me asked for a slight adjustment to a sandwich on the menu and the server said it couldn't be done. The food was ok.

Came here twice. There isn't too many places to eat on the Island anyway. Their apricot cookies are good, Jack Lumber cake pretty decent. Sandwiches could be better. Ambiance are very nice. Lots of outdoor seating. They have outdoor heaters on the patio and provide blankets on cold days. You can order platter of cheese for tasting, and beer and wine are served on premise.

The cheese which you can taste before you buy is delicious. There was a viewing window so you can see the cheese being made, although we arrived too late to see this happen. The setting is beautiful with lots of seating among the trees. My husband really liked the beer too. It’s not a cheap place to visit with a jar of chutney going to set you back $15 but it is certainly delicious.

One of the first stops on Bruny Island after getting off the boat, instantly revived by the promise of tasting some seriously delicious cheese and freshly baked bread...and if lucky, we got our hands on some “slugs” filled with ham and cheese and a veg option of kasundi (homemade). Although quite busy at times, the staff are very friendly and genuinely keen to share their knowledge of all things delectable! Can’t wait to visit again.

Nice setting but overcrowded and we were forced to sit in the sun on an already very hot day. After 45 mins waiting we enquired about our cheeseboard as we were burning in the sun and wanted to leave. We wondered how it could take so long to put 3 pieces of cheese, 2 accompaniments and a bit of bread on a wooden chopping board! After requesting a refund the cheese board miraculously appeared. Cheese was ok, but I think we had lost it by then.

This place was one of my favourite stops on Bruny Island. My partner and I went in the late afternoon and I’m glad we did because it was much quieter than earlier in the day when we drove past.
We had the Bruny Island Co. cheese platter and my partner had the beer tasting paddle. The cheeses are DIVINE, the bread fresh and beetroot relish delicious. I’m not sure what types of cheeses were included in our platter, they didn’t really advise us, but it was delicious nonetheless. The beer isn’t too bad either!
The shop gave tastings which was great. When I went to the bathroom I walked past the kitchen and saw a lady taking freshly baked cookies out of the oven...heaven!
I’d recommend a stop here if you have time.

We visited twice during our stay. Unfortunately the first time they were all sold out, but we got there early the next day and had the lovely baked Otto for $28 with wood fired sour dough and pickles. Cheese platter is $30 and gives you a good taste of all the cheeses. On weekends they make huge wood fired pizzas. Taste the cider (local) with the cheese- delicious. A must do.

Definitely worth visiting if on Bruny.
We had been warned the cheese platter wasn’t much chop for the $ and yes I could see that in some people’s eyes. Considering it’s all local produce I think it’s fair.
We visited in lifted COVID restriction and wonder if this effected things.
Would love to of tasted more of the cheeses and local drops
Could see this place pumping on a summers day

Loved the concept of mixing a bar with a cheese making shop. It was so nice sitting at a bar in the bush, my partner sampled the beer and we had a pie each for lunch and grabbed a coffee from the cafe. Bought some cheese as well that was called ‘George’ it was fantastic but expensive. It was lovely sitting in the bush with the quiet surrounds. Definitely recommend.
