Fish specialties, I know, but I couldn't resist my opportunity to try haggis. (They do it fish & chips style, which means it's breaded & fried.) I liked it! A bit spicey, a bit grainy...good combo. We also had fried haddock, since we both did the senior menu option, but others had nice-looking mussels in big pots. Plenty of food,... More

My husband and I turned up at Frankie's on a whim and thankfully they were not busy, as it had been full the last time we went. The batter on the gluten free fish cakes was beautiful. Home made coleslaw was fantastic too. The chips were the best we had tasted since moving to Shetland. Will have to make an... More

In Lerwick, we had very good fish and chips but couldn't resist visiting Frankie's in Brae, in view of its 'Best in UK' win. I do think the fish had the lightest, most crispy batter I've tasted and the fish itself was cooked perfectly, firm and moist and full of flavour. I liked seeing the information onscreen about the time... More

The menu at this restaurant is one of the most varied I have seen, but only has one fish on it Haddock, breaded, battered or smoked. The rest of the menu is loaded with almost everything you could want for a meal, adult to young child. My wife had the local Brae mussels, her opinion they could not be done... More

Will be forever mystified that Frankie's is not the top rated restaurant in Shetland. Easily the best chippy I have ever been to - have gone three times in as many visits to the island - and beautiful views out to the water Brae. The fish is fresh, exactly what you want from grub on a small island, and cooked... More

We heard from a San Francisco friend that Frankie's was the best, and she was right. The fish and chips was a hit with all of us, the mussels were highly praised, and I have never had better seafood chowder. Tasty, hot, fresh, and served promptly. The fishcakes were a little disappointing (too much potato filler, I thought) and the... More

I've never been to a chippy like it. It was so good we went back the following day. Blue cheese mussels, pan fried scallops, fresh langoustine tails, fresh bread and real chips. What more could you want? Lovely service, spotlessly clean, reasonably priced.... We can easily see why it has won awards.

A true gem! Frankie's has the best fish and chips! The batter is very light and not greasy. Don't be fooled that they are only a Fish and Chip Shop. Their seafood dishes and selection are great. My husband had the mussels and said they were outstanding. Reservations are a must unless you want take away. One evening we had... More

The two course pensioner's lunch is excellent value - various choices with coffee or tea and beautiful views

Put simply, this is the best fish and chips I have ever had. Freshly caught fish, cooked fresh to order and served with chunky chips and a variety of sides are available (the coleslaw is lovely). Whilst the waiting staff are mostly young/school kids, they seem to do a good job, tending to customers and keeping the place clean.
