Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Honestly I wish I could rate this higher, I cannot praise enough how much I loved everything about this place!!! The food was so fresh and full of flavour. The portions were perfect I'm full and happy. I ordered the soup of the day and...the salmon and the effort that went into presentation ALONE!! The taste of everything is miraclous and the Scottish theme of the food and drinks is so well kept. The Scottish ale complemented all of this. The server was beyond polite and made the atmosphere even better!! He made sure our experience was as positive as possible. The design of the pub is so beautiful with the look of vintage Scotland. The price was so good for what I got portion and quality wise. Please give this place the business it deserves and get down here ASAP!More

Stepping into this authentic Celtic tavern we experienced hearty home cooked meals featuring dishes from different Celtic areas. The variety of quality whiskeys and meads should not be passed up. This is truly a unique place that should not be missed. Petar and Jessica were...very welcoming and we loved hearing their stories.More

10/10! This place is a MUST visit for absolutely everyone! The food was truly 5 star dining and the view is something out of a fairytale. This place would be perfect for every season, with a beautiful patio in the sunshine or a cosy sit...by the enormous fireplace. The hosts are a gorgeous husband and wife team who make you feel welcome and at home just as though you are with family. They accommodated us even though we arrived after hours and were generous beyond words. And ours dogs were welcomed like family members. Go out of your way to get here as it will be a place you won’t forget!!More

The beef stew was good, Guniness was Guiness but the salmon was not cooked. We waited about an hour from when we ordered lunch till it was served. I paid cash as the guy would have had to manually enter my card details. Overall not...impressed and we won't be going backMore

We stayed at the Red Lion for one night only, arriving mid afternoon, as part of a group of six. We received a very warm welcome from the owners and proceeded to enjoy drinks outside on the balcony. We moved inside because of a looming...thunderstorm , and as we were ordering our dinner when the Tavern was thrown into darkness by an enormous electrical storm. Amazingly, the owners were able to provide the meals that we ordered in a short time, and to a very high standard. We were able to park our vans on an adjoining lot to the hotel, where they had suitable showers and toilets. I understand that the owners(mother and Daughter) are relatively new there, but they are running a great place, which we would highly recommend should you be passing through Glencoe on the New England Highway.More

My family and I had gone to the Red Lion for my mother's birthday on 31st Dec 2018 and we have never experienced such a ripoff or appalling service (7 people in total). My father had called the night before to confirm the prices, when...we arrived, however, one meal had increased by $10 despite a Facebook post by the owners stating it to be $10 less, making our meals $30 a head. We had a 30 min wait to be seated, then waited 2 hours for our food to arrive. When our food finally arrived, they were platters to share but the hot meals were cold and not enough to feed us all. We also had to get our own cutlery which was plastic! Despite being a tavern, we were told the drinks were only served out of cans, from an esky! On top of this the female owner was so rude and when we questioned her about our food, she just grunted at us and stormed off. The males toilet was also out of order and males had to go outside to use a loo. I do feel for the chef in this position because he is a wonderful cook, but working for inexperienced people. My family and I were regular visitors to this establishment but will not go here again. I have posted photos below, the salad and cold meat platters which were for two people = $60 The vegetables and roasts platters which were to be shared amongst 5 people = $150 We weren't even provided with tongs!More

We have not stopped here for some time due to time constraints but made the effort on this occasion. Good call. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and good steak at a reasonable price. My t bone with salad and chips was all you could ask for...while my wife's fillet steak with vegetables was also more than acceptable. Add that to the cheery nature of the gentleman behind the bar and the ambience of an English county pub and you have a great package. It would be even better on a cold winters day with a warming fire in the enormous fire place. My only criticism is that maybe more attention could be given to the cleaning, to whit, dirty place mats on the table and toilets badly in need of attention.More
