This is a lovely taverna in the small village of Anidri. We shared a meze lunch of fava bean spread, pickled beets, tzatziki sauce, roasted red peppers, fava beans in tomato sauce, olives, sweet cherry tomatoes, and more! It was all delicious! We hiked here from Paleochora and then after a stop to see the frescos in the St. George... More

Delightful small restaurant specialising in Cretan dishes - a little off the beaten track but well worth a detour from Paleochora (driving time about 10 minutes); it also makes a perfect place for refreshment after walking up the Anidri Gorge. The terrace area, shaded by a big olive tree and with views down the gorge to the sea, is attractive... More

We planned to get only cokes after the hot hike up from the beach, but when we saw the food being brought to the other tables, we ordered some stuffed peppers, which were so amazing that we then ordered some stewed chickpeas. We were sad we got full, because it was so delicious, we wanted to eat more. The cheesecake... More

-Ten minute drive away from Paleochora and after the "Άνυδροι" Anhydrous Gorge there is the Anhydrous "Άνυδροι" village . There you will find an old school (well i don't know if it's old or if it's still working as a school) "Το σχολειό" where you can taste traditional Cretan cuisine together with frozen cold raki. The view of the gorge... More

We ate here on many occasions through September and October in 2016, until the day they closed for the winter. The ambience, is amazing, the food is presented with an original tweak to Greek recipes and some to other international ones too. The starter portions are quite large enough to eat as a main - but all dishes are totally... More

Place is very pleasant. The food is tasty, but the portions are huge. First of all, I recommend the lamb.

We planned a walk from Paleochora and return via the Anidri Gorge with a promise of lunch at the Kafenia Sto Scolio. When we arrived it was open, but wasn't serving food for another hour or so (I apologise that cannot remember the timings). However we quenched our thirst and, after having read the interesting and varied menu, watching the... More

Beautiful drive to get there, wonderful spot with a great buzz. The blackboard menu was laid out in easy to read sections (photograph it to read at your table) and there was so much we liked the look of, we had lunch and dinner there. The pie in my title was so delicious. My Husband had the village sausage as... More

Great setting.... Restaurant is located in an old school... Beautiful terrace overlooking the mountains. Great food, 1 of the 2 waiters during our visit was less patient. Other than that the experience was great!!! Would recommend to all food lovers!!!

This remote taverna is an amazing, picturesque setting with fantastic, affordable, TRULY Cretan food. The service is great, the food is stupendous, and the setting is beautiful. If you are anywhere near Paleochora, this is a must-see.
