This restaurant is a warm and friendly place. We were advised to dine here by our BnB hosts after a late arrival. It is family owned and operated. We had a delicious dinner with local wines suggested by the mesdames. We loved it

A quiet time in February; an ideal place to stop in the middle of an agreeable market town; not necessarily a lot to see but the castle is a must.

Visited as a group May 2018. Service a little slow for dinner although it was busy. Food and house wine was very good. Nice place to eat in relatively quiet town.

Excideuil is a small town and we had a very disappointing meal elsewhere there the night before. What a contrast at Le Fin Chapon. Classy surroundings inside with lovely staff and a bit more relaxed atmosphere at the tables outside. Great range of menu options...and everything we had was great. Excellent use of in season quality local produce with little innovations such as the vietmanese soup with four huge prawns for starter. The amuse bouche was an unexpected delicious bonus. Staff were faultless, A great place with excellent food and staff.More

We visited for a weekday lunch around 1pm. It appeared to be the only restaurant in Excideul actually open, so there were half a dozen plus groups of clients including ourselves The male waiter, apparently English , or with perfect English if you need it,...was very friendly and helpful We had the set lunch at €15 euro just over, which was very acceptable although the main course, was meat and potato, no vegetable, as is often the case in `France. The à la carte was huge and one has to wonder how they could offer so much choice freshly cooked The outdoor terrace is pleasant and far enough from passing traffic as to be unaffected. There is free parking nearby on street. The indoor restaurant area is huge, so one can imagine this place could cope with pre planned large events . Overall not bad at all for an unplanned lunch, but not quite good enough for me to say very good.More

We arranged a large group of people to have lunch here in the knowledge that they could quite easily deal with us and not neglect their other clients. Sure enough that proved to be the case. This is a slightly more upmarket restaurant - table...cloths and changes of cutlery - so just a tad more expensive. It is worth it for that extra something.More

We sat outside on a warm summer evening. The ambiance was nice, the service was good, and the prices were reasonable. The food, however, was a mixed bag. My wife and I both had the duck breast, which was very tough. The starter plate with...foie gras and smoked duck was very nice. It is a pity that there is no really good option for dining out in Excideuil as it is a very charming town.More

We recently had lunch here and it was ok, because of the mixed reviews of the food. We were welcomed by a friendly hostess and sat at our table. The interior is basic, tables small, chairs not the most comfy. We decided for a main...course instead of the menu's. I had a platter which was quite ok: foie gras, a few slices of margret de canard, a bit of cheese, salad and a lot of cooked potatoes. My wife had the ris de veau: tiny little pieces with automatically too much bread crumbs didn't bring much joy. One shouldn't serve such a high class dish this way. A bit of an insult to the French kitchen. Limited wine offer with decent prices. Staff very friendly.More

We have been staying near Excideuil for three years and always admired the terrace of this hotel/restaurant. We were a party of five and were welcomed by the waiter ,who turned out to be english and was very understanding about our stumbling french efforts. I...chose a salad (imaginaire) which had local foie-gras ,goats cheese and a very good mix of other ingredients. I really enjoyed it . The rest of the party had steak which was cooked as requested and was well received . A very nice evening .More
