Went here for a couple of drinks, staff were busy paying pool in the covered outdoor area, where customer's were smoking with the doors open into the dining area therefore causing the dining area to be very smokey. Seats indoors were super saggy. Just an uncomfortable environment.

We stopped her for 1 night on our travels between Auckland and Rotarua in order to visit Hobbiton. Nice place, central to town and clean and serviceable. We had the family room which had lots of space and was light and airy. Good service and excellent value for money.

The fish and chips are good! Service is OK. Good place to have lunch and a beer and relax. It's a block off the main street, and a little more quiet.

We were fortunate to get a room after our original booking was found to be for March instead of February. Complementary car parking was provided; so was free wifi connectivity. The room has a table fan to provide some Breeze. We spent the evening in the pub, sipping wine while surfing on our mobile devices. Will come back again.

Nice traditional pub not trying to be something it's not. A good selection of local beers on tap which is always nice to see, the girlfriend and I shared a ribs meal which was big enough for us to share for a late lunch with a side of chips. not a real big outside area but nice nonetheless there also... I arranged a surprise lunch gathering for my husband on his 80th birthday. The guests were already seated when we arrived, and the table was nicely decorated. With the number of us - 13 adults and 3 children, we had awhile to wait for our food, but when it arrived we were all thought it was well worth the wait.... More

We stopped here for a drink while visiting the town. It had a nicely kept beer garden and very friendly staff. I can't comment on the food as we didn't eat. I believe you can also stay the night.

I had the chicken breast and it was very delicious! The prices are high, but maybe that is just my impression as I'm Austrian. Per person we spent 30$. The service is really nice and we waited for the food aprox. 30-40 min. Wonderful pub and friendly staff!

Visited here on our stay in Matamata, we had starters and a main and were really happy with our selections, the menu has a great choice available, with options for children size meals also available. Staff were friendly and helpful. Beer garden and smoking area out the back. Would recommend trying some Guinness whilst here, my husband said it was... More
