Best food in the area. The cheese platter is a must. Good French wine and cuisine. Great variation in the menu. Coq au Vin was divine. Deserts excellent.

Food here was very nice, if a little pretentious on the dessert front. Portions are not massive, especially the foie gras. But it was well presented and tasty. Unfortunately the staff rather blighted the experience and we wondered whether there was some sort of 'domestic' going on, as they all seemed to be arguing and consequently very surly. This filtered... More

Interesting menu which is changed regularly. When we have friends from England they request to eat au Coq Rouge.

The food was very good and the service too. The decor is surprising though with glossy ceilings, kind of cold with cool light.

Excellent traditional French cuisine that you will enjoy and the cheeses are very good French cheeses from the excellent fromagerie from just down the road.

From the first hello, it was not going to work out. The woman (I believe she must have been the owner) was explaining a dish and we couldn't quite understand. So my mother asked again, and she actually said, quite rudely "you need to listen to me". To which I tried to explain that we didn't understand what it was... More

Unsmiling service, and not quick. Rather pretentious. "We don't do pommes frites at the Coq Rouge." Finally negotiated a pommes de terre gratinee, which was good but miniscule. My rognons were good but the partner's trout had been dead a long time, and served with extra veggies as a side plate, exactly the same as was served alongside the dead... More

One of my favorite restaurants to go for lunch. Quick service and great menu. Hard time every time to decide between the lamb or beef. Could do a bit more effort with the accomplishment, sometimes its pasta or mash, for such quality food you should have something a bit nicer such as gratin. Nice service. Starters for lunch are good.... More

The restaurant is pretty small and usually full. I would advice making reservations. While the food is good, the service is very slow and you should be prepared to spend the evening there.

We have just had one of the best meals we have ever eaten. We had the trout and the veals kidneys and they without doubt one of the finest dining experiences we have had and together with the excellent service, the evening has been a wonderful experience. The wine was also chosen for us and it was excellent and the... More
