Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We loved Robata for a few reasons: #1 - it's a very small tavern/restaurant and it's quite an old-style decor #2 - the chef/owner is very friendly #3 - the food is excellent (ask for the set menu if you can't speak Japanese) #4 -...the price is acceptable for the food qualityMore

The ambience of Robata is one of its kind from its cosy seating around the hearth, to its quirky owner, decor and the traditional music playing in the background. Given its layout where most of the diners sit almost shoulder to shoulder around the hearth,...it was lovely to be able to strike up friendly conversations. For a tiny kitchen helmed by 2 elderly ladies, they were so efficient in churning out dishes, and every dish was on point especially their yakitori pork, chicken skin, fried Yamaimo, Hokke and stir fried pork liver. Their garlic fried rice served with a raw egg was also very moreish. They also served some good sakes, and we particularly liked the unfiltered one. Dessert was fresh strawberries drizzled with condensed milk - how can anyone resist that? Robata is a tiny izakaya so reservations are a must.More

This is a new hotel and we came so we can to check it out (did not stay). This was also during Covid (August 2020) and also during the Summer so a lot of the hotel was closed but we were free to wanted through...the public areas and also through some of the common area of the residential part of the Hyatt. The finishing and the design were, of course, absolutely fantastic, as one would expect for the Hyatt. We had a fun time looking around and the staff were very helpful. We ended up staying for lunch at Robata. Or at least I think that was the name. It was a mix of some Japanese dishes and more contemporary cuisine and even something for the kids, so everyone was happy. The view was also prefect! Look forward to coming back to stay!More

We made a return visit to Robata after a 12 month absence. Upon entering you are immediately made to feel welcome. The decor is eclectic on steroids in a charming only-in-Japan way. The drinks come out quickly and cold! The food is adequate but for...me it's more about the unique atmosphere. We ordered a la carte and enjoyed the grilled fish and yakitori in particular. The place is tiny and the seats around the bar counter are the most sought after. You really can't help but have a great night here.More

I almost hate to tell people about it because it's so small and wonderful, but the food here is excellent izakaya style food - seating around a U shaped bar only, and run by a father/mother/son trio, they were friendly and welcoming. The food was...really great as well. Wish we could have gone back!More

Our friendly host at Furano Loft recommended and made a reservation for 3-generational 9 of us to an omakase dinner. It was a good suggestion. Pop spoke enough English to get by but is not conversational, but the food was as genuinely old-style Japanese as...you can get. The sashimi was fresh, the Miso soup was truly Hokkaido-style, and the meat was moist and tender. When we asked for sake, he poured, and some wanted seconds. Again, he poured without leaving the bottle on the table. We found out why. The cost of the sake was included. it was good. The room, as described by other reviewers, was indeed small but cozy. The furniture and fittings look like they are >50 years old. They had to turn away walk-ins or asked them to return later. Some of them did. The fireplace in the middle of the U-shaped room was not used to grill food, but to warm sake (or tea?) So it was not a true robata restaurant in the summer, perhaps in the winter? The cost was not cheap for a Mom and Pop, but it was a good meal. We could have returned the next evening, but we wanted to try another suggested restaurant. The cost in the other was just as much, so we had no regrets.More

Don’t be fooled by the friendly staff. The food is ok. But when the bill comes, ask for an itemized bill- or you will be ripped off if you are a tourist!

The robata refers to the stone hearth in the middle of the room. They actually only use it for warming the sake, rather than cooking, so it’s not a true Robata. Nevertheless, this is a fun place to eat and drink said Sake. They serve...traditional Japanese pub fare: sashimi, grilled fish and meat, and a few random Hokkaidō specials. The seafood and cheese melt is surprisingly tasty. I recommend grilled fish with hot sake.More

Izakaya 🏮 Robata is a gem 💎 of a place. Hard to find down a small alley in Furano but worth the search. You would be lucky to get s table without a reservation. So get your accommodation to call and book or as we...did went in and booked for the next night. Everything on the menu delicious. The whiskey ginger highball is a great drop, but you must have the hot sake from the ceramic pot on The brazier.More

Little gem with truly cozy atmosphere This is a very special and awesome restaurant, and if you are in Furano you definitely have to go there. We were welcomed verywarmly and choosing a dinner is easy as they provide you a menu with photos. We...got a delicious soup as a starter and had the garlic rice, the deer and chicken skewers and a salad and everything was really fantastic. But the most outstanding feature is the cozy atmosphere and the decoration of this restaurant, it is so authentic and perfect, it is an absolute must–see. We had a wonderful evening, it couldn’t have been better.More

This place was open late, so my boyfriend and I decided to give it a try because of the good Tripadvisor reviews. We absolutely loved the atmosphere and especially enjoyed the meat! My boyfriend kept on ordering all the yakitori on the menu because everything...was so juicy and flavorful! If you are in Furano, I would recommend that you pop in here for something delicious!More
