About
Enoteca Properzio 2 is set in a very specific context, specifically in a place dating in 1550, part of the famous palazzo dei Canonici , next to the Cathedral of Santa Maria Maggiore in Spello. Legend says that here Pinturicchio lived and worked in this environment for a long time , (considered the most celebrated artist in the area). Enoteca Properzio 2 , also protected by the Fine Arts, comes from the requeirement to offer customers a greater and more impressive space compared to the original Properzio 1. The restaurant is divided into several areas, designed for the maximum comfort of guests: outdoor area with umbrellas, indoor dining rooms , rooms for private tastings and a large interior courtyard for summer. Why do people choose Enoteca Properzio 2? It is the ideal place for breakfasts, lunches and exclusive dinners with tasting menus or a la carte or even to enjoy amazing aperitivi at any time during your day.

Where else can you get a free glass of a €230 bottle of Sagrantino. Here is Roberto with his lovely family Luca and Irene but what a smooth operator. If he spots you as a serious wine drinker he will offer you a glass of some of his best wines and have a sip himself. He has the most incredible stock of wines some on parade in the shop some hidden behind a locked door. Food is excellent local fare and so reasonable haven’t had such value for money in years. This is a slick but professional family operation who just want to have fun with the clientele and offer them that little bit more than you expect to get. Spoil yourself. Best evening so far

This perfect food and wine tasting experience is set in the beautiful, quaint town of Spello at a restaurant run by one the nicest Italian , 8 generation Spello families . This is a repeat place for us to go whenever we are in Italy, even from Rome 21/2 hours by train or because we enjoy our experience here so much and continue to share with adult children and now friends. Roberto uses his charm and elite sommelier knowledge to teach you all about his wine and wine tasting in a way that allows you to learn and not feel stupid, as well as to drink plenty. His lovely daughter, Irena, translates and is so knowledgeable and kind connecting with our whole group, as does her brother Luca . All along their mother is making delicious Italian food pairings , served by their wonderful staff, highlighting their olive oils ( Spello is known for its olive oils) and the many wines they serve from white through the reds . Once again we left our lunch happy, tipsy, full and looking forward to the many wines and olive oils that we always buy and they ship so easily, wishing this could be our lives in LA every day.

We waited very impatiently through two years of lockdowns for our fourth visit (but certainly not the last!) to Spello and Enoteca Properzio owned and operated by the Angelini family and assisted by their friendly and knowledgeable staff. There is a saying "Everyone wants to be an Italian" and if that applies to you, then there is no better place to eat and drink and be entertained than at Enoteca Properzio in lovely Spello! Just like all the people we have come to know and love in Italy, Roberto, his son Luca, and daughter Irene are some of the most welcoming people we have met in our travels anywhere. Make a reservation or just drop by if you are so lucky to find an empty spot and tell them what you like in wines. You will then be blessed to enjoy what the Angelinis are best at: excellent wines and food and great service.
Spello is a hidden gem near Assisi and not to be missed if you are nearby. We would recommend staying in Spello and then driving the short road to Assisi to see all of its glory. And don't miss the Villa of Mosaics in Spello - see how a high-ranking Roman official lived during the Imperial Age.
If you are interested in wines and can't yet make the journey, be sure to see Enoteca Properzio's website for wines, olive oils and authentic balsamico vinegars. You read about the wines, decide what you like, place your order and soon it appears on your doorstep. Or describe what you like to Luca or Roberto and they will find something for you. And don't miss Irene's line of fabulous skin care and bath products made from locally sourced ingredients.
Dearest Angelini family, we love you and will see you in 2022!

We decided to splurge and try the 5 course degustazione menu with paired wines. The wines were very good, however the food was a huge disappointment. The quality of the food served was not comparable to other degustazione menus we have tried. The expectation is to have very high quality foods prepared and presented in unique ways. Instead, we got bruschetta, vegetable soup, a small portion of pasta and a couple of meatballs. The dessert was biscuits. The disappointment is in the price you are paying for the basic common food that was served. We had eaten the same things at other restaurants in the area for a fraction of the price we paid here. The owner was very attentive but completely focused on the wine. So, it's a great place to have a meal and some wine, and they certainly have an interesting selection of wines, but we would not recommend doing the degustazione menu.

My husband and I enjoyed a superb luncheon and wine tasting at Enoteca Properzio in Spello last month. We met the Angelini family several years ago truly appreciate their friendship, hospitality and quality wines. We make it a priority to return to Enoteca Properzio whenever we are in Italy. The recommended wines and olive oil that we order and ship to the USA always arrive promptly and in perfect condition!

A visit to this restaurant was part of our organised Intrepid Tour . It included wine tasting and samples of local foods . I’m a non drinker so appreciated the fabulous flavours of the olive oil , balsamic vinegar and foods served. The owner also kindly provided me with a free cappuccino- very generous. The staff were all very friendly & attentive . Peaceful & shady surrounds - highly recommend!

We came here along with our guide Anne Robichaud who had set up a wine tasting lunch for us. Presided over by Master Sommelier Roberto Angelini along with son, Luca, and daughter Irini, we enjoyed at least 10 different regional wines paired with delicious food courses. We thought we knew how to experience wine but now we know much more. It’s a luxuriously long lunch or dinner - at least a two hour experience so do your touring and shopping before the stores close at 1:00. You’ll want to take a good nap afterwards!

Roberto, Lucca and Irene were awesome! We truly loved our visit here, and it was one of the best and most memorable from our trip to Italy. We visited here with a large family of 9, and each of us loved the food, the wine and the people! We felt so welcome and a part of their family. It made me think I would sure love to live there!! The olive oil was delicious too. We all ordered plenty of wine and olive oil to ship home to California. We all hope to be able to return here one day.

BEST food and wine! The Angelini Family will make your experience the best. We ate lunch there twice, dinner once, and participated in the cooking class experience which was phenomenal! Roberto, Luca, Irene and the rest of the family will treat you like family. Their lasagna is exceptional! The pasta with fresh truffles, OH MY! The wines were out of the world, we sent three cases home to the U.S. can’t wait to return again! Highly recommend the wine testing with food pairing experience. You won’t be sorry.

Without doubt the best restaurant & wine cellar in Spello! Repeated visits were had as competitors fell short of their high standards. Extra bonus English is understood & indeed translated on the menu.

Dios Mio! What an experience and attention to the whole group. We tasted great wines from Italy, led by Roberto and his son and daughter. After this I became a wine lover. Roberto is a great Sommelier, very kind and willing to teach what he knows. Luca, his son and Irene, his daughter , were the future-to-be greatest sommelier of Umbria. The food prepared for La Nona was good and combined with the selection of wine suggested by the family. Love the experience and family business experience. We will be back!

If you are a wine enthusiast, or just like a great glass now and then, this place is a must do on your list.
Roberto and Luca "son" know and teach you about wine, From pouring it, to checking it out in the glass.
Not to mention then meal they will share with you paired with the wines you are about to fall in Love with.
Their wines are of the highest quality and a wide range of vintages.. Not to mention their Olive Oil which is over the top and the Balsamic makes your taste buds dance with joy.
You will be treated like Royalty and a new friendship will be born.
I do not drink, however I have taken friends and family here since 2003.
This my was absolutely the most rewarding, trip there.
My wife Jeanni and her best friend Julie were overwhelmed with JOY at this experience.
THE ANGELINI FAMILY, has been in business for 8 generations, and knows how to treat each and every guest that enters the establishment.
Thank you, my friends!

I had lunch with my family in this wine shop, located along the main street of Spello. Delicious and light, despite the 'challenging' ingredients, the bruschetta made with black and white truffles, sun-dried tomatoes, rocket, and the inevitable whites with an amazing local oil and fresh tomato.
The tagliatelle are just as good. Fresh Mediterranean salad with genuine raw materials. Very kind service! Absolutely honest prices. We had a great time! Thank you!

Today we attended a lunch and wine tasting at this beautiful place. It included truly lovely food and a very informative and expert discourse regarding the characteristics and pairing of the various wines we enjoyed. The enthusiasm with which the information was given certainly added to the enjoyment.
As well as the several varieties of wine, we were educated about the local olive oil, and the 20+ year old delicious balsamico.
I was the lone vegetarian in the group, but my eggplant was equally as delicious as the meat dishes seemed to be to the other members of the group.
Spello is a beautiful small city. The restaurant is part way up the hill, an easy walk, surrounded by ancient buildings.
All highly recommend!
