Location and contact

Somewhere Else Cafe is an Cafe-Restaurant in the heart of Shangri-La Old Town. Founded in 2011, it has been a haven for locals and tourists alike. After the fire of 2014, it relocated up onto Pijiangpo, 20m up the hill from the Dancing Square. The menu is mostly European. Known for our good coffee and pastries, some guests come for breakfast, some to meet friends and enjoy good wine. Still others come to sample our fresh breads and pizza. But after one visit, they all come back! If you are looking for great food and service, go Somewhere Else! Staff speaks Dutch, English, Chinese, French and Tibetan.

Just had coffees here while chilling out after a trip to the temple but to be honest, it’s the best coffee I have had in China this trip & my gf said the same. 👍👍👍

Went for breakfast which ok not great - fair quantity but no finesse. Went back for pizza which hit the spot. Brownie wasn’t special.

Love the environment. Went there after my less than satisfactory trip to Compass Cafe. Food is good and the service is great. The place is very clean and the people are very helpful.

Much better value than Compass Cafe opposite, I had a great breakfast of granola and tea (that was topped up by the very thoughtful waitress - who also speaks very good English). The kitchen looked sparkling clean and the restaurant space was bright and airy.

We stopped here just for dessert, but their overall menu included multiple delicious options that I would have purchased for a meal. The desserts are homemade and taste incredible!
