2nd time we have visited Grandma Pollards and won’t be the last. As last time the fish and chips were delicious the free fill ups of tea always welcome. Friendly staff make for a very pleasant visit.

Nearly always stop off here for chips when we are in this area. Great tasting ,well cooked. We usually have a take out ,it's a real treat and judging from the amount of customers very popular place to go.

Grandma Pollards has been an iconic "Chippy" for some years now based on a reputation from God Knows when, but for me I fail to see the attraction in buying "Bog Standard" fish and chips at 15-20% more than other local establishments. Clearly the Fish...More

A walk around the nearby Hollingsworth Lake is always followed by a trip to Grandma Pollards. Top quality fish and chips, piping hot and beautifully cooked. Light crispy batter and a free dab thrown in for good measure. Staff always welcoming, it's a must visit...More

A trip to the nearby Gordon Riggs Garden Centre is never complete without a stop off at Grandma Pollards on the way home. I've eaten in many a fish and chip cafe (as my waistline will betray) but this one is something really special. Crazy...More

Grandma Pollard virtually has its own railway station. Well it's actually Walsden station but it is right opposite the chippy front door. Not only this but the canal passes the back. Add the large car park to the mix and you have the perfect travel...More

I cannot really answer that question,I have asked a number of people and we all are stumped on it,As the batter is light and fluffy (My words) it is hard to tell,no doubt it will be Grandma Pollards secret.

Description
This is not an ordinary chip shop. There is a lovely resturant or an old bus to dine in. In summer eat outside or by the canal.Childrens menu and wide range of meat pies and puddings available. The vanilla slices are great as wellaethe fruit pies All home made. All avilable with tea/coffee, bread and butter. Just go in the chp shop, order and the meal is brought to you at your table. The service is excellent. It is an experience to dine in the bus usually accompanied by 60s/70s music in the backgrund. The bus can be hired for private parties. The shop is open Mon. and Tues till 3.30pm and Wed.Thurs.and Fri. till 8pm. Not open Sat and Sun. It really is an experience (very good one), and well worth a visit. The place is spotless. We have been going many years now and there .are many regulars. I would recommend the chippy for a very enjoyable experience.
