We drove by Poonkies a couple times on our way to or from Portsmouth and it looked like a pretty cool place, but it was always closed. One night when we drove by it was finally open. We stopped in and the interior was dark, all wood with the sounds of a nearby stream cascading by. Very cool place. Bartender... More

We are medical students at ross & decided to venture out a bit from our usual spots. We were told by our driver that this place is frequented by students but a "local place" so we decided to give it a try. The place is different, a lot of dark wood & set directly next to a running stream which... More

The fish dinner was incredibly delicious! Unfortunately, the lobster was less then spectacular and while the bar was packed with every type of drink the offered nothing but shots and beer. If you get the lobster request it boiled or at least not breaded. The menu is the same nightly.

Wow! Having to wait forty minutes for a meal, one is rewarded with the most deliciously freshly cooked dinner on the island of Dominica. Trevor Rodney, owner, does not encourage asking for a doggy bag which is really not necessary. Every meal was so delicious that I felt like breaking every rule of etiquette. LOL!

We were staying at Manicou River cottages at the top of the Mountain. When we arrived at the bottom of the hill, Trevor the owner stopped our taxi and said that we would never make it up the road without a 4x4. He told us to take our gear out and come have a beer and would drive us up... More

It was located right down the hill from Manicou where we stayed. Great food, great drinks and great value. The food was a large portion and very generously priced. Drinks were great, bar was the best stocked on the island. We visited sevceral times and the chef and owner would come and sit with us and talk. Really made for... More

I was promised by Trevor, the restaurant owner, that i would get local spicy fish or seafood - I told him I like curry and coconut milk, and fresh greens. He confirmed my reservation but was not there when I came. I told the cook I was wheat and gluten intolerant. He really did not listen to me. He started... More

This was the best fish dinner we had in Dominica, bar none. Generous portions, fresh fish, freshly prepared. The cook is amazing. The wait staff, however, provided a very weird experience. Told us she couldn't make me a rum punch, despite the dazzling array of bottles behind the bar. Actually, told me she didn't have anything I asked for, so... More

The bar is so well stocked I was amazed. Highlights were a rum from peanuts ... don't ask, just taste it.
