Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We have been to Harlequin on a number of occasions and it never let's us down.
The waiters/waitresses are always attentive and the food is well cooked, tasty and good value.
I personally recommend the Thai Fish Curry.
Well worth a visit if you are in Barbados and near The Gap.

We have been visiting Harlequin Restaurant for many years and they never disappoint us. From the welcome when you enter to the time you leave the staff do everything they can to ensure an enjoyable experience. With a varied menu and offering great value and high quality meals it is no wonder that this remains one of the best restaurants on the island. Keith, Tosh and the rest of the team offer a first class experience in an informal setting and I would recommend anyone to visit.

Staying at the South Gap Hotel this is only a short walk, it had good reviews so we were hopeful and were not disappointed.
From the moment we steeped inside we received outstanding service, the food is relatively simple but well prepared, good quality, well sized portions and very tasty!
The wine menu is limited but sufficient, cocktails very good and all together everything is well priced relative to the area.
Would highly recommend for a couple but also there were many groups there having a great time!

We have tried a lot of the local restaurants while here on holiday and this, for us, is the best for food, service, atmosphere and cost. The best fish pie I’ve ever had! Our waitress was lovely and the owner was very welcoming. Most places have disappointed us, but we will happily go back to Harlequin!

Great restaurant - we did not book for dinner but managed to get in 20 mins later after just turning up at 8.15 pm . That’s what I love about Barbados ! The people really bend over backwards to accommodate you .
Anyway had a truly delicious meal Grilled Mahi Mahi - Cajun potatoes and seasonal veg - absolutely delicious !! Bottle of reasonably priced New Zealand Sauvignon went with it nicely!!
I love fish and have it most of the time in Barbados so I can't comment on any of the other dishes at Harlequin but the restaurant was full - always a good sign of good food !

We have been visiting Harlequin for many years and the standard of the food and service hasn't changed in all our visits. An excellent wide-ranging menu, great value for money, friendly service and a terrific atmosphere. Owner Keith and manager Tosh are first class hosts and this restaurant should be a must for anyone looking for a first class night out.

Pain to book a table, had to wait for approval! We got in! But not the time slot we requested
I had the seafood chowder, hardly any fish mainly carrot and potato, tasted ok
Partner had the chicken Samos ok nothing special
I had the king fish with garlic butter it again was ok, partner had the surf and turf, the steak was very good and the surf was great juicy prawns, the pepper corn sauce was like cleaning detergent !! Chef sought that out
Service was ok quick polite they love to welcome guests whose birthday it is, would I go again?? May be

We thought we'd try Harlequin's for dinner but forgot to book online, so I emailed them just before 6 pm and got a near instant response, 5 minutes later confirming they'd be delighted to fit us in for 8 pm. - Great customer service.
We walked to the restaurant and when we got there (15 mins early) it was really busy - which is generally a good sign and we were not disappointed.
It is located in 'The Gap' where there are a lot of restaurants, so lots of competition!
Staff and owner (Keith) are really engaging and attentive, making sure everyone was seen to at the appropriate time.
A nice touch is asking whether you want your mains straight away or have a 5/10 minute break in between. Too many restaurants are too quick sometimes, and it can then feel rushed - but not here!
Good food, lively location, and great staff, what more could you want for a relaxed evening dinner.
The restaurant is really colourful and lots of outside seating.

Delicious freshly cooked food. Staff and owner were lovely. We dined here at least 3/4times during our month stay in Barbados. The Mahi Mahi blackened was particularly good - the best Mahi Mahi we tried in Barbados - nicer than Buzo Osteria and the Tides. The chef even made special spicy grilled prawns for us. All the dishes we tried were delicious.

Dined at Harlequin for the first time yesterday having decided to go to the Gap for a meal. Menu provides a broad spectrum of options and our food was very good. Service was fine and the value was on a par with most of the restaurants we visited whilst in Barbados.
We arrived before 7pm without a reservation and noted several potential diners turned away just after that - on a Wednesday evening so probably better to book in advance.
Overall - worth the visit and I would book if going again.

There is nothing not to like about this place. It just keeps on delivering really good food & good service at very sensible prices. Nice location too. But you need to book ahead as it is very popular and deserves to be.

We were really excited about this restaurant after reading some lovely reviews, it didn’t live up to our expectations unfortunately. There was nothing bad or terrible about anything but it just wasn’t what we expected from the hype we had received about it. The food was good but not fantastic. The fish was cooked really well. The accompaniments were very lacklustre, white rice felt like it was just out of a pre-cooked bag. The stew was very watery and the desserts were honestly not good at all.
I was given the wrong bottle of wine but it was my own fault for not checking properly in fairness. The staff were really lovely and very attentive and I’m sure it was maybe just an off day as there was no real atmosphere to speak of. We will try again on our next visit, thank you to the lovely staff you were a shining light.

Always reliable. The dishes are all prepared with finesse and served with a friendly smile and warmth. From the moment you walk up the steps, you are “welcomed home”. Harlequin never disappoints and the bill is reasonable for a high quality experience. We love it! Island Fiesta salad with tuna is my favourite salad ever.

average food quality. don’t know how the reviews are so high. had mahi with fries, fish pate and fried calamari. calamari was hard, fish pate meager, like out of a container. mahi was ok. fries from a bag
and fried in reused soybean oil. maybe my expectations are too high. paid $115 for two people with one drink and one bubbly water. so although not ridiculous price, not inexpensive by any means.
