The Afonso III already moved to another place! (near the round about of Kiang Wu Hospital) Still one of the best portuguese cuisine in macau! QUALITY, TASTY, VALUE!!! What we always said in portuguese! Tres B, Bom, Bonito, Barato!!! If u want to find a traditional portuguese food, Afonso will be your choice!!!

We lived in Macau for 15 years and Afonso's was our favourite restaurant (and in Macau there is no shortage of choice). Returning after 5 years absence we were immediately greeted by Afonso and his waitress. The food (and she remembered my favourite dish, the pork liver) was excellent. Whether you are in Macau for a brief visit or to... More

Whatever you do, arrive hungry! Hearty Portuguese fare in huge portions. Unlike other reviewers we found the wait-staff and owner pleasant and helpful. Given the sheer quantity of food, this is a bargin. Two people, two courses, a good bottle of wine and two coffees for HK$400. Excellent.

I asked for a typical Macao food, " could you please recommend something typical?" "We are in Macao... everything is typical" the waitress replied, as she laughed. Then I look at the menu again and I see Pasta. "Excuse me, Spaghetti bolognesa is typical from Macao?" I said. We left without even trying their food. Terrible service, dark atmosphere, not... More

The owner of this restaurant, Afonso Carrão Pereira, does not hide the fact that non-regular customers are not welcome. You're lucky if you are greeted only by the rude waitress, like I was on my first visit when I dined solo. In a second visit with some friends, a clearly drunken Mr Pereira, started shouting at one of my friends,... More

A Portuguese friend recommended this place to me. I respected his opinion and went along despite some of the hysteric reviews on Tripadvisor. The house white wine was excellent and good value. The Waitress was very friendly and efficient. The owner was also pleasant. Didn't see the metal bar that other reviewers have mentioned. We took the sausages as a... More

I had been going to Afonso for over a year, at least once a week, before moving away from Macau. Upon my return today it was the first place I wanted to go, and it did not dissapoint. The food is excellent and a very reasonable price. I've lived in Rome, New York and New Orleans and often places with... More

We chose this restaurant as my Brazilian girlfriend wanted to try authentic Portuguese food. The restaurant itself is dark but feels not too bad. The food was average, the clams were good but the Bacalhau was poor. But everything was oevrshadowed by the service. The waitress is extremely rude, and the owner is worse, a real grumpy old bast**d who... More

I went to Afonso III after a long absence. Nothing has changed, for the better or for the worse. The food is still good, the portions are still big, the place is still shabby, the female Filipino waiter still has no manners at all and business is still good - nevertheless.

I often make a trip to Macau just to eat at this restaurant. My mother-in-law is a tough customer and loves it to. All my colleagues who have been there over the years are so impressed by the food and the value. Wine list is limited by great quality. I found the staff to be ok but am not there... More
