Hard to find - but well worth it when you do. Fabulous food in an out of the way place. Polenta was great - and the mushroom pasta looked good too. Home made pannacotta was the highlight.

We discovered the place by fluke, after taking the “funicular” from Como to Brunate and enjoying the view, we saw the sign to the Trattoria, which takes you to some small back streets. The place is warm and welcoming; the terrace can be enjoyed on a sunny day. Now the food! Simple dishes with Polenta, are simply delicious, especially the... More

You go to Brunate and you expect everything to be catered to fancy tourists and all overpriced and overdone. Initially we were taken aback by the setup - it looked like we were in someone's living room - rustic, wooden walls and countryside decorations. The menu was simple and all in Italian - but the waiter spoke a bit of... More

The worst italian restaurant that i had ever been! Little portion, oversalted, bathroom terrible especially iin winter, little space inside, not recommend.

Excellent meal. We visited it in 2010. The staff treated us like family. We were the only people inside and were treated very well. Before we left the staff played rock music on electric guitar.

If you take a ride with the funicolar Como-Brunate, you should definitely enjoy a meal in this restaurant. They serve traditional food from the region and if the weather permits it you should sit on the balcony and have a view of the city of Como and of the southern part o the lake.

On a rainy day in Como our family of four took the funiculare up to Brunate for lunch. There was scarcely anyone around and we stumbled upon this restaurant down narrow streets beyond the station. We were the only guests and had a lovely meal of spinach & ricotta ravioli, beef polenta and panacotta. The house red was great. Warm... More

I loved this restaurant and went back for a second visit. The house red wine is decent and well priced. The atmosphere was lovely, and I had a relaxing evening, with great food. Very helpful staff. Worth looking round the village to find this tucked away spot. I totally recommend this restaurant.

Thank you to TripAdvisor - we looked for this particular restaurant when we visited Brunate on a Sunday in July because of recommendations and we were delighted. The terrace was fully reserved so we ate indoors - the food was simple and with excellent flavour - my fussy Italian friend almost returned a clean plate to the waiter! Very friendly... More

Our hotel recommended some place to eat. I saw their touristy menu and knew better to walk a bit more and look further down for something authentic and special. La Trattoria was simply it! A simple straightforward menu with local fare. All is delicious! A must visit. No frills but the real deal! Tried their two pasta dishes (simply yummy)... More
