Quiet place to have a group who enjoys good food and conversation. All our dishes were excellent...veal, rabbit, ossobuco! Good service! The house wine served in mugs was interesting. Not expensive by Swiss standards.

Great traditional food. Fair prices (by swiss standards). Friendly service. Nice ambiente. Came by personal recommendation and would come again.

We were given a beautiful and lovingly maintained room with a balcony that looked out onto Lago di Maggiore and which was furnished with very tasteful antiques. The food menu... More

Having come on a personal recommendation as well as Trip Advisor reviews, we were a little disappointed in Grotto Scalinata. Sitting outside was fine, but not anything special. The service was friendly and efficient. We ordered standard grotto fare, i.e., the polenta dish of the day for me and a gnocchi dish for my wife, but the food was just... More
