Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were recommended to go to this restaurant. We couldnt complain about service but they werent too busy. The french rose wine was excellent as were the entrees, we had oyster assiette which had the most amazing oysters 6 different ways, particularly loved the bug...meat and the tempura battered oyster. My husband had bloody mary oyster shot and oyster mornay. Delicious! We both had the crab lasagne with abalone sauce. It was ok. We both felt it was very gluggy and rich. Crab tasted like tinned crab. Nothing to rave about to be honest. It swam in a river of creamy sauce which became too much after few mouthfuls. The next table ordered battered fish and it looked amazing. I wish I had ordered it. Dessert was hazlenut creme brulee, very nice and sticky date pudding which was good too. For $255 for two people we thought it was pricey and the crab lasagne wasnt great. It was $ 39 an entree serve. We were glad we didnt have the main size serving. I had crab lasagne at another restaurant which had fresh crab meat (white meat visible) with a cheesy mornay sauce and it was divine. I guess I expected same but this version was very gluggy to eat with brown crab meat. However the oysters were fabulous and I think we just ordered the wrong meal with the crab lasagne. I would recommend it for the oysters, just try something else for a main.More

The service in your establishment is non existent. We have been coming here 4 times a year for over 10 years. It’s so disappointing to not have the consistent experience we have had over this time. It’s like we were invisible.

The food is very nice, but priced as if this is five star dining experience …which this definitely isn’t. It’s half a simple restaurant and half bar. The limited menu features a $40 battered fish & chips and $63 steak etc…I will say the Mac...and cheese is the best I’ve ever had! Don’t bother ordering a mocktail - they were basically just $10 soft drinks and you get much better ones at the nearby restaurants.More

This spot Shuck on Tedder Ave, Main Beach is an excellent seafood restaurant... i forgot just how good the service is. We are only on the Gold Coast four times a year. This time we went to watch AFL game, and stayed for delicious entree,...main meal including wines. We both loved our main courses. Crab lasagna and Prawn pasta arrabiata; we put our phones away the entire time. Shuck restaurant is always a guaranteed winner in both food quality, excellent service and priced accordingly.More

This place is an institution for quality seafood. Never go past the crab lasagna in abalone sauce. The owner recognises my phone now when we order takeout on our visits to Main Beach.

The food was first class, fresh and large portions – the best Fish & Chips I have ever encountered, this dish is very next level of a standard dish. Saying this, there was four of us and everyone had an amazing meal – freshest seafood!...The service was genuine, attentive and overall, a good vibe. Price? I go for value and Shuck delivered above and beyond expectations. We will be returning again and again, would highly recommend this restaurant.More

Very poor food, extremely high prices. Only thing good I have to write about are the two waitresses who gave us good service. We I looked down the street at other restaurants which had a lot of people I can see why.

Nice dinner, good food, sort of good service, but be honest I have never been chased by a waiter while I was crossing the road to check if I paid the bill . Of course we paid with a very generous tip as always!!!!! Bitter...test. may me never again, which is a shame for us which are almost locals and always enjoy our local restaurants.More

We were staying with friends who live 300 metres down the road from this restaurant. They booked us in for dinner as they have busted a few times previously. It was V8 race Saturday so their bar was busy and as would be expected rowdy....We were seated by a delightful waitress who is apparently part of the ownership family. When she presented the menu and specials we were gobsmacked at the outrageous pricing. As an example I had a well cooked but tiny piece of Gold Band snapper at a whopping $51 yes $51. Other dishes I can recall were a pork chop ‘schnitzel’ at I think $47. Some form of prawn pasta $68. The restaurant is tired, the bar and toilets grotty and the wine list amateurish and uninspiring. I feel like this family own the building and live off their former reputation. And basically don’t give a damn about locals. It’s about gouging tourists with expensive unimaginative food saved somewhat by very good service. We won’t be back and either will our local friends or their friends. Apparently there is a brilliant value Italian down the road. I’d love to see a John Lethlean get hold of this lot with a 2 star review.More

Ordered Barramundi & chips and couldn't eat it. Not only was it over cooked, the fish had no taste and the chips were extremely hard. In actual fact, it didn't even seem like real potato is the chips, it was like some reconstituted stuff. The...waitress was really lovely but the food was nothing short of disgusting. I think from the amount of food left on our plates.....I hope the chef & staff would realise it was inedible. So, so disappointing.More

The restaurant is large and wasn't at capacity when we visited. We were seated promptly by our wait staff member who made sure our visit was an enjoyable one. The menu is loaded with all the seafood items that made choosing a difficult but pleasant...exercise. The food was served as described and was absolutely delicious. Our whole experience at this restaurant was wonderful.More

Second time we’ve dined at Shuck. We live in Sydney and whenever we visit the Gold Coast we go here with my cousin who is local to the area. The food & service is always phenomenal! My recommendations are ANY of the specials & a...must have… The Crab Lasagne in abalone sauce. (You have to order a side of fries to dip in the excess abalone cream sauce AM-AZING!) My mouth is watering thinking about it, can’t wait to get back up there!More
