I have walked past here on the weekends when the live music is in full swing and the whole joint is jumping so was keen to try the food. Unfortunately I thought it was average at best and not up to the prices charged. My partner had a rib fillet for $39 which was all that it was served with, even had to pay $3 for a sauce. Not one accompaniment. I had the sandcrab lasagne that is mentioned in positive reviews. It was ok, I wouldn't rave about it for $37. I was expecting and hoping from more. Perhaps just come for the entertainment and you won't mind then what the food is like.

A night we had been awaiting for a while and On arrival to see the new fit out and decor was very pleasing to the eye. The Host welcomed us and verified our reservation then walked us our table. Much to my delight it was still an "open kitchen" and our table that was to be our centre stage of all facets for the night of the dining experience that we were about to experience was a prime location right near the kitchens food pass area where the servers collected the menu dishes. Our server was initially fast and efficient with issuing the dinner menu's, our water selection and pre dinner drinks. First impressions matter most and one of them being the Menu which should be a beautiful document to hold and read and unfortunately Koi's isn't considering the reputation and calibre of the restaurant which strings from the very well known owner I was so surprised we were given a bistro style plain one sided laminated menu that was disgusting and sticky as it was covered in food and beverage residue from the previous serving periods. Simply spray and wiping plus sanitising all menus after each meal period would eliminate this. Chefs all smartly dressed in all black and looking very professional in their open air stage was great to watch as they created their tasty edible creations. Pre Dinner drinks arrived in a timely manner then we were invited by our server to order starters which we did. Taste sensations on all levels the food both Entree and Mains were superb and so tasty matched with a very price friendly Wine List. Overall a great night but some touch points that they need to refine, action and improve asap is staff presence, eye for detail and walking around looking lost. The reason this is being highlighted is because as the night progressed it was obvious that the staff were losing enthusiasm and just wanted to pack up and go home. Standing around talk to staff who had signed off was too obvious to the diners eyes with staff on shift standing around talking to off duty staff sitting in the Bar area and even standing at the food pass on their mobile phones chatting yet we could of ordered another $200 worth of drinks if we had be kept in the cocoon of service that we had previously received at the beginning of the evening when we arrived. Let's be honest the restaurant scene on the gold coast is very cut throat and if you don't nail it in all areas every meal service you'll lose it. The attitude of most Waiters and Supervisors these days is "near enough is good enough", but I'm sorry it's NOT. Leaps and Bounds ahead for you KOI but it's the simple small little things that are always valuable especially from a guests perspective and experience.

We were so looking forward to Koi as we always go there every year around this time. I don’t know what has changed, possibly the chefs but our meals were all really average. It also took 45 mins for the mains to come out. I wouldn’t have minded if we weren’t sweating big time because the part where we were had no air con or fans. Oh well at least we lost weight haha. Our son had the Karangi chicken and it was just 3 small chicken breasts on top of mash for $30...kfc might have been a better choice. Sadly we won’t go back for another meal there

Dear margief816 It was very humid on the night you dined with us and we apologise for the wait on your main course. We are well aware that when the weather is extremely hot, temperatures do rise in the raised high top table section of our restaurant and, at the end of this month, Koi will be undergoing a full refurbishment. We will also be are expanding into the restaurant space next door and this will allow for much better airflow and circulation. And, because our restaurant is getting busier and busier, we are building a completely new and larger kitchen because, as stated, we are getting busier and busier and our customers deserve quick service :) At Koi, we have continually evolved our menus during our 13 years of operation and our newly refurbished restaurant will be keeping up that tradition and will be offering more clean menu options to deliver on our promise, "something for everyone". Wishing you all the best, margief816, and once again, we are so sorry that your experience at Koi did not meet with your expectations. Kindest Regards, The Team at Koi

Promoted as one of the best restaurants in Broadbeach, Koi sadly did not live up to its expectations. Poor service. 25 mins for our drinks to arrive at our table after ordering them (guy at the bar standing and chatting to another bar tender during this time) Main meals arrived 10 mins apart from each other. Meal size was small for the price paid for the food

These guys were really accomodating! I had stomach surgery in Jan 2020 and therefore cannot eat as much or as quickly as others. So we asked for abit of extra time in between the entree and mains, which was not a problem considering they had 200 people booked for dinner at 6.30pm! I had the Hello Vera cocktail which was delicious. We had the Chicken Liver Pate with Caramelized Onion Relish on Sourdough Bread for entree. Mains: Mine was the Crab Lasagne with Tempura Crab & Husband had the $78 Sirloin with side of Red Jus, Broccolini & Potato Stack. All very delicious!

The maitre'd had no idea about the 2 for 1 pizza offer, until he checked with the manager. In fact, when asked, he said to my partner 'that finished three months ago, darling', which we found condescending and slimy. Although the restaurant was large and not busy, we were jammed into a small space with all the other diners, with no consideration of Covid spacing or personal comfort. We ordered the margerita and funghi pizzas. The tomato base on the margerita was under-cooked, it lacked basil and was quite tasteless. Even our toddler, who eats everything and loves pizza, refused to eat it. The funghi pizza was good but not great, and included a large, uncooked chunk of pecorrino rind. The waitress brought us the dessert menu, but for $17 per dish, we thought it would be quite a risk to order such an expensive item after such a poor main meal. It took forever to receive the bill, and when it was delivered, it was given to the man of the table, which we found quite sexist. We also noticed the male service staff wearing their own casual clothes, but the women wearing short, tight tan skirts with tight white blouses, which just seemed so wrong. We wouldn't bother again.

Great seating that allowed us to people watch. Service was very good with checking with us. There was not much choice for vegan diner but staff were happy to make a meal vegan. The seafood dishes were very fresh and everyone was very happy with them.

Located in the restaurant strip right on Surf Parade Broadbeach, Koi is a pleasant place for breakfast. The service was friendly and the food was ok. There’s a 10% discount on food for guests staying at the Qube. We tried the avocado toast with a side of smoked salmon (pictured) and the big breakfast (also pictured) which was too big for a single person to finish! We also enjoyed coffees, juices and milkshakes. 3.5 stars.

We were looking forward to returning to Koi after a long break. On the plus side, the decor is fantastic and the staff are very attentive and friendly. But the food was just so so (apart from the calamari, which was excellent). We had the pasta and a caesar salad as well. The servings were really small, the pasta was almost cold and the salad was very basic and bland. We ordered two glasses of wine and at $11 per glass, they were really small glasses and not worth it. It is really too bad. At $92 for a quick light meal for two, we did not feel it was great value for money. There are other offerings in Broadbeach such as Georges (great pasta and caesar salad) and the new place in town - The Lucky Squire which both offer great value and quality.

Had a dinner for 6 including 2 children at Koi and must say was quite underwhelmed from start to finish. On a rainy night they persist with a policy of seating people at tables on the sidewalk edge, with empty tables inside. Should have asked for a different table, I guess instead of trusting their commonsense. The idea for the meal was to go with as they suggested on the menu to get share plates given the mains are ‘designed to be shared’. Worryingly the waitress when queried about the size of the dinners for sharing told us the portions are not that big, barring perhaps the pizza and pasta. Anyway, persisted and ordered a kebab pizza, koi fettuccine and a grilled snapper, plus 2 kids meals - cheeseburger meal and a steak. Koi fettuccine was great, really tasty and definitely the star. The snapper, somewhat ordinary, and I guess best not broken up and shared although as a meal by itself, getting just a piece of snapper on a plate with a few small pickles is hardly credit worthy. The pizza.....shocking, doughy in texture, lacked the ‘kebab’ flavour and honestly so poorly cut it had to be pulled apart by hand to serve. Surely theyre better than that but I’d say it was a pretty low bar being set. Top it off with a kids cheeseburger that had a meat patty so heavily seasoned with pepper, the kids couldn’t stomach it and even I found it slightly unpleasant to eat with the heavy pepper flavour. When you do a kids meal, best hold off on the pretentious and adventurous flavouring and keep it simple.....will make everyone happy that way - kids whinging they are still hungry cause they can’t eat the dinner doesn’t set a happy vibe overall. So all in all, quite the disappointment for a family birthday celebration dinner with guests from interstate - best thing was going to the shop down the road for gelato.

After having dined at Koi a few times with great food and service unfortunately this time it was a very disappointing experience. The singer was exceptionally good but far too loud for an evening out at a restaurant - we couldn’t hear ourselves talk. We were left waiting an additional 10 minutes for the final meal to arrive - which is unacceptable and the pesto penne didn’t have an any pesto in it. The steaks however were fantastic as were the wait staff…

Arrived to see not one staff member except the Host wearing a mask, with all staff either sitting them under their chin or not wearing one at all. Had to ask for someone to take our order, she did but begrudgingly. The dips with Turkish bread saw five tiny fingers of Turkish bread arrive for our $8, not even enough for 2 people even when ordering dips at an additional cost ($20 for 2 dips and 5 tiny bits of bread). The rest of our dinner then took over 50 mins to arrive. Always happy to pay for great food and service, however we definitely didn’t feel like it was delivered with much effort or a smile here. In comparison to some of the other great restaurants we have dined at while staying at Broadbeach (Mamasan, Moo Moo etc) this was by far the worst. The Karrawa surf club for lunch was much better than here - and the service there atleast came with a smile!

Sunday lunch at Koi is the perfect end to a weekend. Food was absolutely delicious and customer service was fantastic. There was a gentlemen who interacted with us frequently and I believe he was the restaurant manager. I love seeing management on the floor, assisting their team and importantly, creating a great dining experience for customers. Sagnaki cheese was epic, along with the kilpatrick oysters and rib fillet. Food is pricey but worth the spend.

First time to Koi And was blown away by the gorgeous decor. I feel like they care about our comfort in the way they have purchased beautiful comfy chairs to sit in and the setting is elegant casual with a gorgeous camel palette. We were welcomed by friendly staff and offered beverages as soon as we sat. Service for us was exceptional. Our waitress Aline was warm and friendly, anticipating our needs and offering suggestions. Food was the best. We eat out a lot and found the food well priced and like the surround’s, elegantly casual. Then the entertainment started and we only had one Koi boy. At first we were disappointed but that didn’t last 2 songs. Steve was amazing. Funny, pitch perfect, really talented man. The most entertaining concert we have seen in a long time. Can’t believe you can get all these good things in one stop. Grats Koi Dining. In very challenging times you guys got it so right. Go everyone. And your welcome😁

Wow, I really don’t like writing these posts I really don’t. Tonight we revisited Koi which is one of our favorite restaurants usually good food and service with nice variety. Tonight we ordered oysters - sorry sold out- I recommend the grilled prawns, they came out the heads were black, flesh was soft and gooey so obvious old. The next course was roasted pork belly with confit potatoes - oops sorry no confit potato just potato mash, wait aren’t they both potato? Well the pork was stone cold as was the potato, the manager visited our table told him politely what was happening, well that was it, full of abuse to him telling me he will serve me frozen oysters, I said don’t be an idiot so now we have been banded from the restaurant. We offered 3 times to pay for what we consumed, he was so fired up there was no reasoning with him. Oh dear how has COVID affected some people. BTW the restaurant has been at max capacity all day.

To those reading this review please be advised that this gentleman was extremely aggressive and rude. We sold out of oysters because being a public holiday the next day we don’t over order fresh produce to minimise wastage. We don’t trade on public holidays. On top of that it was an extremely busy lunch. So it’s normal to sell out of fresh seafood and other proteins. Mash potato and confit potato are two different dishes. Mash is exactly that, with added ingredients such as truffle oil. The confit potato, is actually a 15 layer potoato gratin style dish which takes about a day to make and it indeed baked, we can’t turn a mash potato in to thinly sliced layered potatoes. George also forgot to mention that I offered to replace the dish multiple times, it would not have taken more then 6 minutes. There were several pork belly mains on order, we could have sorted this out easily. I have very rarely been spoken to with such contempt and complete disregard of respect for another person. Please do not revisit our venue.
