Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I wish we had read the previous review as it's spot on with our experience as well. Restaurant was empty (which I should have paid more attention to) while the one across the road was popular. We have dined at Yellowfin Brisbane several times so...thought we would give its Gold Coast sister a try. Service slow to take our order (more important to keep talking to kitchen) although was pleasant and cheerful at all times. Scallops entrees and seafood platter for mains. Scallop entree looked hastily prepared, chorizo bites tough and not a patch on the sister store scallop offering which was presented in shells in our previous experience. Fish appeared stale. Fries overcooked. Sadly not enjoyable at all. Easy underground parking just down the road but I was hoping for some sort of beach side location/view. Instead its situated on an intersection. If in town, try directly across the road, they seemed to be doing a good trade.More

We have enjoyed a lot of seafood platter’s at Yellowfin but tonight the meal for the price was average & attention from the staff was very ordinary. This restaurant seems now to rely on tourists & locals are not really classed as clientele that matter...anymore. Really disappointing & I won’t be recommending to family & friends in the future.More

My wife and I shared a seafood platter, and we enjoyed it very much. It was grilled or barbecued seafood with rice instead of chips, so it was relatively healthy. It was a good size for two people. Staff were very friendly and attentive. We...would eat there again.More

Stopped here for a quick dinner. We had fish and chips and pasta ragu. Both quite ok, perhaps the pasta slightly over cooked, a matter of taste I guess. Good service and nice location. All in all, we got what we wanted, nothing more, nothing...lessMore

A special night. We dined at Yellowfin for my partner’s birthday and the staff helped make it special. I booked earlier in the day and mentioned that it was my partner’s birthday. They suggested a desert with candle. Two of the staff came out after...our main course with the pavlova dessert, candle, happy birthday on the plate and singing happy birthday. It really was a surprise. This was a fitting finish to a delicious mealMore

I had booked by telephone in advance and a lovely lady took my reservation without problems (I had previously tried to book online but erroneously selected the Brisbane branch of this restaurant "chain"). Anyway, I turned up a little earlier than the agreed time and...was warmly welcomed by the same lady who ushered me to a small table for 2 outside. She then hurried to provide me with a nice big bottle of chilled tap water. And that was it. I sat and sat and sat as waiters and waitresses scurried around looking after customers sitting at neighbouring tables. It wasn't as if I was being ignored. I had the impression that I was invisible. After far too long I finally snapped, got up, politely informed the lady who had originally taken my reservation and welcomed me, that I was leaving, and I walked off. Life is too short for that type of "service".More

I chose this restaurant for the hot seafood platter and to be honest we were disappointed as it was just average. Live music and 15% discount on food helped improve the score. Unfortunately like most places at present, lack of adequate staff levels is challenging...and we were offered incorrect meal and noticed this happened to others too.More

Tried this restaurant with my family, although on the pricy end of the scale, the food and its quality was well worth it. Pre-book as it gets very busy. Give it a try for a good dining experience

Saturday- The restaurant was very busy. We could not fault the service nor our meals. Everything was so good that we decided to go back 4 days later. Wednesday- The restaurant was very quiet compared to Saturday and different wait staff. Our meals where no...where near the standard of Saturday nights nor was the service. there was no consistency in the meals. Two of our party of four ordered the seafood chowder. 1 for an entree and the other for a main. The one for entree came out very watery and bland whilst the one for main was thick, full of flavour and lots of seafood. Had we not gone back for second time I would have given this restaurant a 9/10 but now I can only give it 5/10 for the lack of consistency in both service and the food.More

An amazing dining experience. We visited for lunch, my wife ordered the fish special and I ordered the fish and chips. (Barramundi). Both meals were cooked to perfection, so delicious and enjoyable, and large! Great value and superb eating. Totally recommend!

Booked a special table for Birthday dinner & we were seated right in the walk way near the cash register counter. Not happy considering we booked a week in advance & requested a nice table for Birthday Dinner. After a round of drinks & stress...from being cramped near the counter we made a request to be moved to the outside table that there were 4 x 4 tables easily moved too accommodate a table of 6. We were told sorry not possible as they were booked already. Hmm not Happy. The waitress who I think understood how unhappy we were then said she would ask the manager if there was anything she could do. She came back & said when the couple to the right of the counter were finished they would make us a table there & we could move there. Better but still not brilliant.More

At $140 with lobster available as an optional extra, you'd be hard pressed to find a better value seafood platter on the Gold Coast. Huge platter of well-prepared, tasty seafood including natural oysters, two types of prawns, clams, scallops, crab, salt and pepper squid and...Moreton Bay bugs. Fast, friendly service too. Highly recommended.More

Walking past noticed very pet friendly. Tick Tick. The staff extremely knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. We order the June seafood special. WOW this did not disappoint. Grilled prawns, Morton bay bugs, scollops, salmon and calamari. Generous portions beautifully presented. Then the deal breaker really great...value. Would highly recommend. Delightful afternoon especially when the busker set up across the road. Love the GC, sunshine and especially our great Restaurant’s - Yellowfin is right up there for a great casual Sunday Lunch. Wine list is also very good.More
