Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Location is great. James Street is busy and Buzzy. Service is great and food was amazing BUT... AT 8.45PM they started stacking chairs on top of tables. It felt really rude as some people were still eating and I'm fairly sure you wouldn't get that...at a Gordon Ramsay restaurant. I did ask why this was happening and the server agreed that it was rude. Shame because everything else was perfect and would have been a five star rating!More

Absolutely wonderful until the waitress demanded that she entered what she wanted for the tip on the bill. Until then, we had enjoyed a great evening with delicious food.

Our family had dinner at Gemelli in Broadbeach for my husband’s birthday. It is definitely worth booking as the restaurant was incredibly busy. We were seated promptly with a reservation. The food was delicious - we had 4 x pasta dishes plus the veal -...and everyone enjoyed their meal. The desserts - Tiramisu and Crème Brûlée - were also delicious! We would definitely eat here again.More

If you are travelling for business on your own or a sigle traveller this place is not accommodating at all. Got in on a late flight and I thought I would go to my favourite italian restaurant on broadbeach for a meal but the experience...was very disapointing to say the least. There were free tables available but because I was solo they put me up on the bar stools to eat which was not comfortable at all. When I questioned it they said they were at maximum capacity and had another dinner session at 8:15pm. Two tables for 2 were vacant the entire time I was there while having dinner. It was disgraceful the way I was treated because I was a single person. Discriminated against for dinning on my own.More

So disappointed. Read the reviews and decided to try this restaurant. Great that they were so busy that we couldn’t get a table, were offered takeaway with a 20-25 minute wait. Decided that this would be ok. Ordered our pasta at $38 a serve. Unfortunately...there isn’t anywhere to wait for the takeaway, except to stand outside and watch the tables empty out. After 50 minutes waiting, we went to ask where our meals were. They eventually came out, after asking the staff 3 times. In this time, other couples who hadn’t booked were offered tables. Still looking forward to our meals, we went back to our accommodation. One dish was so over cooked it was mushy. The other, the sauce was tasteless except for the salt, which made it inedible. From our experience, would not recommend to anyoneMore

Four of us, two couples, had a 6pm dinner at Gemelli Broadbeach. We asked the waiter how big the focaccia was because we thought two would do us for starters. "I recommend one per person" came the immediate reply. We ordered three as we are...small eaters. When it came, two would have been quite sufficient. We ordered two glasses of wine and four main course: two pizzas, a gnocchi and a prawn pasta. All were "good" but fairly standard for an Italian restaurant. The problem was the service, starting with the curt reply to our foccacia request. When the food arrived the gnocchi and the prawn pasta came well before the foccacia, the wine and the pizzas. The foccacia was clearly ordered as a starter and should have come, perhaps with the wines. That service glitch put a pall over our whole meal. Overall the food was good for a simple Italian meal although the prawns were light-on in the prawn pasta.More

Five star food. The saltimbocca was spot on with nicely done and tasty veggies The flavour in the spaghetti al gamberi was beautiful too. I thought the big slices of zucchini were disconnected but certainly added to the taste. Service was slow and disinterested for...a not particularly busy lunch service and it lost them a second round of drinks – ordered but never delivered. I thought it was an expensive venue, even by Broadbeach standards.More

Hostess refused to give us a vacant outside table and did not offer and alternative, which we found to be available and placed us at the very back of the restaurant ( the cave?) and did not at any stage offer us better seating that...was more to our need to celebrate our anniversary. If this is seen as OK for visitors how do you think locals like us will react? We will leave a review on this arrogance and not return to what was a go to place for us.More

Well where do we start??? So my friend and I are seated at a small table for 2 right out the back to soon be forgotten after food delivered. Our pizza was burnt - black on half the outer crust of entire pizza - apparently,...this coming from the waitress- 'real Italians don't eat the crust so that's how they're served, we also got also "because of a hot woodfire pizza oven they come out burnt". Hmmm I may have been born in Australia but both my parents are Italian immigrants - can't say we ever ate burnt pizza especillay who leaves the crust !!!! To add insult to injury our $37 gnocchi was prepared and rolled from a cut up cylindrical tube obviously- tough, salt less and the little sauce served with it didn't make it any more edible, now gnocci is my all time favourite and we left more than half the dish in the plate. Even the vac packed gnocchi from a supermarket isn't like rubber balls if cooked correctly. Might I add, my mother and myself happen to be able to make light n fluffy gnocchi by hand !!! All in all no one cared about our complaints and I got the 'real Italian ' thing again when paying for our last experience at Gemelli. We are local from Broadbeach and have to say past experiences at this restaurant were great - unfortunately they now cater to tourists obviously- for some reason tourists are supposed to sit down, eat, pay and leave never to return. I know for us we won't be recommending Gemelli again and the other unfortunate thing, I work in a resort and I'm asked all the time for great places to eat. I can cross Gemelli off my 'definitely go there' list now. Pretty sad to be writing this, I'm sure there are many happy customers going there but I now know I won't ever return.More
