A lovely little place for dinner. Good drinks options and lots of tapas choices. Food was very tasty, May I say more than it would be in Cuba. I was a little confused about the Verdejo banquet at $40 per person. As my husband and I both ordered it. The portions seemed small for two person as they brought them out on one plate and put two tapas together as well. As I am not a big eater I was satisfied but I could see others left wondering. Again very tasty and good service.

The Cuban is a stylish but casual restaurant, offering quite original dishes with a Cuban/ Spanish/Portuguese influence. Three of us decided to try what they style as their Tapas menu. They are very different to the traditional Spanish tapas(which are cheap and often just a couple of small serves), as I this case they range in price from $13-$23 , and whilst not large, are quite substantial share dishes. We tried 7 different dishes, and they were all well presented and tasty and interesting. The Cerviche fish was the pick, with the rolled spiced lamb resembling a Cuban cigar a strong runner up. Service was professional, and an interesting wine list combined international and local wines and beers. We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening, and spent $250 all up, which was not cheap but we felt it was pretty reasonable.

Great little restaurant in Broadbeach, but very expensive wine! They had run out of all wine under $35 a bottle and the next wine up was $60 and then upwards from thereon. The chicken dish was good, but very overpriced for what you got. The nachos were great value, but be careful - the plate comes straight out of the oven and I burnt my finger on it. The waiter never came back to find out how our meals were - maybe he didn't want to deal with my burnt finger! When he did come back to ask if we wanted another beer, I told him about my finger and he did offer me some ice. That was 30 minutes after I'd burnt it, though. Great location.

Tonight we went to this restaurant after walking around Broadbeach chowing this one. We were interested in the paella 🥘 but soon found it lacking flavour. The tapas menu was very overpriced for what we received. We ordered the meatballs and chicken and the chicken dish had three small pieces of Chicken in a rather large bed of salad. I was not impressed as $100 of food for two was then met with us going else where to have something else

We came to The Cuban to try something different but I wouldn’t recommend it. The service was average as they served two customers before us when we were seated first and they looked like they would look at you and turn away. You would think they would want to make money and sell us a drink. The food was also average for the price and I would recommend a market paella over theirs any day. The only thing I would recommend would be the Sangria. Definitely not going back!

Of all the restaurants on the Gold Coast we chose the Cuban for our NYE dinner based on a friend’s recommendation & gosh, what a big mistake that was! The $65 per head set menu was laughable to say the least. With a restaurant background myself, I know how important it is to get a set menu right for these occasions & the Cuban fell short of getting it right. From the over cooked calamari to the dry pork belly & over cooked Churro’s - the whole dinning experience was a shocker! The only saviour of our NYE experience was the singer. He had such an amazing voice & sang a great selection of songs that we knew.

We dined here in late February on a Friday night. We didn’t book because the Gold Coast seemed a lot quieter than I excepted. We arrived at 7pm and Cuban was packed. We were invited to have drinks at the bar and that a seat should be available shortly. Probably only waited 20 minutes before a table was available. Bar and wait staff were super efficient. Nothing was too much trouble. I particularly liked the way they cleared the table. So quick and discreet. I can see why this placed was packed out and others in the vincinity only had a few patrons. This place would be on the top of my list of restaurants to visit next time I am on the Gold Coast. I will book in advance. I may not be so lucky next time to get a table.

I want to throw myself behind a restaurant that has consistently offered great service and great food, and The Cuban is it. In the past 6 years, it has never failed to disappoint every time we go. Today we enjoyed the Cuban sandwich with chips for $20 (anyone seen the movie ‘Chef’?) with delicious jugs of cocktails $40 (white sangria and Caribbean punch). The food is genuine, delicious, great value. If you are looking for a place for lunch, come along to The Cuban for an enjoyable meal. Or, save your tum for a delicious (and big) meal for dinner - it will not disappoint!

The bad... seated on the footpath, with people walking through all night. The good... The food was great, the service was attentive without being intrusive, the sangria was great value in the tube, and very tasty. We ordered tapas to share, then mains to share, so we all had a taste of a least a dozen menu items. All were really nice, the nachos were outstanding, the calamari was tender and crispy, the steak and chicken mains were delicious. The pork belly tapas needed a little more rendering, and the lamb Empanada was a little dry, but overall every dish was at worst good, and at best, brilliant. Staff were all very nice and attentive, and the kitchen prepared all the mains as shared dishes which made sharing very easy. Ask for an inside table, and you will have a brilliant night. We will be back!

My wife and I have never had Cuban food before when we saw the venue from the outside there was a nice atmosphere to the place. The bartenders know their stuff and the drinks are great. We settled on the banquet for 2 which read well, however, we were disappointed. As expected the portions were tiny. The stand out was the potato omelet and the biggest let down was the paella! Served in a tiny cast iron bowl It was very bland and was complete with just 2 prawns and 2 mussels, this is not the blend of African, Spanish, and other Caribbean cuisines we were expecting. Overall we did not find this place good value for money.

Loved the ambiance of the place & the food was good. The margarita was also great. Limited red wine by the glass. The biggest issue I had was that it’s more for two or more people where you can share the food. As a single it was too pricey & the pork belly @ $26 was not value for money.

Ate here with the family on a Sunday night, place was pretty busy but we had booked the day before so no problems. We ordered the Verdana Banquet which was a good combination for us of dishes we knew we wanted and dishes we wouldn't be brave enough to try if it was left to us alone! Nobody left hungry and there were some gems Pan Con Tomato was a stand out. As for last time I was here the drinks menu is excellent with both servers and bar staff knowledgeable across the board of the offerings and happy to engage in conversation. They are also happy to serve without plastic straws if you ask. One thing I will say is ask questions about the drinks and what you want, their laminated covid drinks menu isn't a touch on their normal detailed cocktail menu but this can be fixed with a chat. Will be back.

My wife and I politely enquired if a table for two might be free for dinner and the front of house person was extremely rude and unprofessional. Yes it was busy however there’s no excuse to behave this way. A simple sorry we’re fully booked is fine. Save your money and avoid this restaurant and the poor excuse for customer service.

Hilariously bad service, delayed drinks, small portions and over priced for everything! The authentic staff accents could not overcome the dreadful service and mismanagement of tables. One couple moved 3 times in the hope of creating a better seating option. The couple who chose the set menu who received their dessert before their mains were totally sweet and understanding. Sadly some good flavours lost in the poor service and ridiculously inflated prices. Sorry will not be returning.
