Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It can't tell you the difference between hot chocolate and hot water. I even doubt there is no real chocolate in my hot chocolate. It sounds real ridiculous.

We stopped in here for a bite to eat after walking the Hooker Valley Track. It is a really busy cafe as it seemed to be the only cafe open in the village. While it was very busy, the staff were excellent and friendly and...were really patient with impatient clients. The food was good and the coffee was good too. We really appreciated having a place to stop and rest and enjoy a good coffee after our hike.More

When staying in house this is the only option for a meal or drink, as the bar doesn’t open till 4pm. On a rainy day enjoyed a very good hot chocolate and a bowl of fries. Various options for seating, we choose lounges, and enjoyed...the view. Service was friendlyMore

Had a relaxed lunch & coffees; the salads were large and fresh. Tasty gluten-free options also; good muffins. A little pricey, as expected in Mt Cook Village, however well worth it those mountain views!

I was expecting a special lunch at a well known hotel, but was very disappointed to find a 'cafeteria' with very overpriced food. Self service wraps or pies, plus some muffins, all very expensive ($10 plus).

We needed to eat quickly after a tiring and long heli hike and this seemed like a good nearby choice. The service was incredibly slow long line to get served and then a 15 min wait for a wrap to get heated. The wrap and...salad was nice but expensive for what you got and it was very slow. Also all the table were full of dirty plates and cups. We had to clear a table to sit down. If you have a choice avoid.More

The ubiquitous staff shortages are obviously limiting the eating options for tourists. This was the first place that we found that had a choice of food that suited my elderly parents. We weren’t looking for anything fancy. The pies were ok but my chicken wrap...was disgusting (and I’m quite easily pleased).More

A variety of platters available - cheeses, charcuterie or vegetarian plus a good wine selection. Great atmosphere - and great views. Fresh food and great service.

The food we had here was great, and the rest of the menu sounded tasty and reasonably priced. The view from the cafe was lovely, however the coffee (like in the rest of the hotel) was too expensive.

Took a couple of family groups there, we got a brief glimpse of the amazing views before it clagged in, and then we enjoyed great coffee and good food. There was a mixup when someone from another table grabbed one of our orders off the...counter by mistake - the people there rapidly resolved it in a very nice way for both parties. The manager was fantastic, and this is a really worthwhile stop if in the area,More

Had a small yummy meal here after being out and about in the cool air for a while, had a very nice and tasty Hot chocolate, and a pie... I have to say I think the Mince Pie was the best pie that I ever...had. I really enjoyed it, and I just loved the belguim biscuit dasiy. Sitting by the window looking out to the great views was just perfectMore

Aoraki was very quiet this time of year due to COVID - that probably helped.. We ate here after perusing the visitor centre, and the movie theatre was sadly closed. Service was good, food arrived quickly, views while we waited were amazing. There was only...one other group in the cafe so we could sit by the windows. Food was really good, two boys ate waffles, we shared a pizza and a salad - they were demolished - very happy we ate here.More

No meet and greet. The place had 6 other people there and, still, our fries were left on the counter getting cold. Not sure why they did not activate the vibrating thing that we had. A real lack of thinking and definitely not what should...happen at one of NZ's top destinations.More
