This is my favourite cafe - in the world! It is so peaceful, set in a beautiful garden surrounded by bush but there is a fab playhouse for the kids, the coffee and food are excellent and there is even a second hand bookshop to...More

This cafe is lovely, serving fresh, healthy and delicious drinks and food and doubles as a second hand bookshop. Add to that the wonderful setting and rustic decor - a great stop on the way to or from driving creek railway.

I have been here numerous times now and each time have enjoyed the experience. The trip takes about 1 hour in total I think from memory. You leave from the platform and travel over bridges through the native bush up to the look out tower,...More

Great food, service and outdoor seating. Right next door to where you do the Coromandel train. Lovely setting. Only a few parks up the drive next to the cafe.

This railway is quite simply amazing. Constructed over a period commencing in the 1970s by an individual with no engineering qualifications, we climb through a series of spirals and zig-zags on a 15"-wide track to the summit. on a fine day, the views are stunning.More

We found this quiet, out of the way cafe in it's very peaceful bush setting and were very impressed by the range of tempting vegetarian options available. We would happily have tried a number of them and were happy with the choices we did make...More

Great to find an all-vegetarian restaurant with plenty of choice. I was there with two people, we all ordered different things. The Haloumi Burger was lovely, as was the Scrambled Eggs. The Pancakes dish was tasty, but a little disappointing as there was only two...More

Thank you for your response. As the new owner, I kept to the existing menu initially in order to properly gauge customer feedback. You were not the fist person to say this about the pancakes, but I can assure you, you were the last. We...More

Charming cafe near Driving Creek Railway - bread here is made on the premises and is very good, extensive menu board, worth the visit.

Description
The Driving Creek Cafe is one of the best kept secrets of Coromandel Town - a warm and homely vegetarian cafe with a magical ambiance that may just keep you there enjoying the fine coffee or teas and delicious home made meals and cakes for much longer than you originally intended. Unless of course you're on a train, in which case we will prepare your order with much speed and gusto! You will also find fresh pressed juices, fresh fruit smoothies, and incredible homemade Chai whose recipe was procured after years of dedicated service to a Master Artisan. The Driving Creek Cafe has organic loose-leaf teas and great LaLa organic coffee. Enjoy our freshly baked gourmet cakes and scones, falafel burgers, breakfasts and a great range of toasted sandwiches, tasty beaches and salads. For keeping in contact we do have great unlimited free Wi-Fi. Allow yourself enough time to check out the collection of Mick the Plumber's stunning puzzle boxes showcasing Coromandel's unique tolerance for what may be considered art or drop in for one of our live rants. Discover the peace of our garden with a sandpit and playhouse for the children or put your feet up on the wide sun-drenched deck. Get ready for a treat. We look forward to serving you!
