I made a stop at the routiers at 4.30pm to have pannekoeken (kind of dutch panecakes) with my 16 year old it was a strange experiance, as there were at least 20 people behind the counter and in the kitchen and maybe 2-3 clients in a very big restaurant (russia in the gorbachov time) we took something to drink and... It's a highway restaurant. But it is in the woods of the Veluwe, which adds to the atmosphere. And it features very friendly, lively staff - in my experience uncommon for highway restaurants. Also, you have a choice: self service or served.

On Friday 22nd -August we stopped at this pleasant restaurant for a light lunch? I tried to translate the menu into English for my husband when a helpful waitress asked us if we would like a an English menu. Of course that would be helpful. This highway restaurant is located in a scenic rural area, and the food echoes this. Don't go here expecting a five star cuisine, and white-gloved waiting staff.
