We were there early December 2016 and it was the super windy season. After parking the car, the 4 of us were walking up against the strong winds and notice the staff signal us to get indoor asap. We were told to all stay indoor only as the wind is dangerously strong. Soon they close down the cafe and we... More

Really nice spot to get a 370°c view on the lake ! Try the soup of the day, I had 2 and they were both really good! Same for the flat white (perfect foam on top ^^) and the carrot cake with the relish on top and the greek yoghurt on side, loved it !!

After taking the long hike to the summit we were rewarded with this cafe which let us refuel, hydrate and enjoy spectacular 360 degree views of Lake Tekapo and Lake Alexander. Picnic and smaller tables make for a relaxed environment keeping in mind it is a cafe, not a restaurant. I suggest taking the hike up to clean the pipes... More

Superb view, but service is quite slow and messy. Ordered 3 flat whites, 1 came extremely white and diluted... Which at one glance, looks totally different from the other 2 cups. But I guess server was hoping we would ignore it, like how she does... Cake... Not for my taste...

Make sure to check his little cafe out, their lunch menu is worth a try. We especially loved the fish and chips.

The view from the cafe is of course quite lovely and worth the trek and fee to drive up the hill. We were expecting better food based on our guidebook, but the fare disappointed. My bagel and sun-dried tomato actually ended up tasting okay, but I wish there had been a wider selection of options. My husband's sandwich was mediocre.... More

Great coffee and a range of cabinet food. Beautiful views overlooking Lake Tekapo village, the lake and mountains. You do have to pay to drive up Mount John but you can instead take the not to strenuous hike up. It takes about an hour and a half.

The views here are absolutely breathtaking! I would highly recommend a visit here for anyone who is travelling to New Zealand. Although the cafe is a little over priced, the food was good.
