This restaurant does cater for a lot of coach parties and I can see why some reviews are less than complementary. If like us, you are travelling independently, don't let this put you off. The coach parties eat in the upstairs dining room (one city.) Go downstairs to the A La Carte restaurant and it is an entirely different scenario... More

Having read some of the less than favourable reviews about this place I find it hard to believe I ate in the same restaurant. My extended family were touring the top end of the island and I spotted this place as the best looking prospect for lunch. The time was getting on a bit but they were more than happy... More

We visited this restaurant for lunch today on our day trip to beautiful Porto Moniz. The location was superb. Service is the best and the food tasted wonderful. Would highly recommend.

We arrived just after the organised excursions were leaving, so the restaurant was quite quiet. Fabulous views of the sea and the food was outstanding. The only complaint that we had was that there was too much food and it was such a shame not to finish it all. Would certainly recommend a visit to Porto Moniz and lunch here.

Wonderful surroundings with the natural swimming pools, busy place with holiday tours, so we went to the downstairs restaurant, immediately acknowledge by the staff, and as no tables at the window (great views to ocean) we decided to wait a few minutes for a table, offered a Madeira wine as an aperitif, we then had a nice meal, decided to... We stopped at this restaurant on a Thomson organised tour, where lunch was included. As far as this type of mass catered lunch goes, this was perfectly acceptable. The guide called ahead with our main course choice. My partner and I opted for the grilled fish which was good, chips and rice were optional and a side salad was put... More

This place was a lunch stop as part of an organised west island tour with Thomsons. Food was dreadful, each part was delivered seperately so by the time the meal was complete the main component, for example dry roast chicken or soggy battered fish was stone cold. The side salad looked like it had been prepared by an eight year... More

All the tour companies have special deals with certain restaurants for lunches. Typical price for a three course meal with wine - and coffee to finish- is €13/€14 For €13 here the special lunch was cream of vegetable soup, black scabbard fish in batter (with potatoes, rice, salad), ice cream and fruit, then coffee. Wine with the meal. It was... More
