I read the great reviews for this place and thought it sounded friendly and ideal spot to grab some lunch. However, the waiter completely ignored me, alongside several others sitting nearby. We eventually asked if we needed to order at the bar, and he just...slapped the code on the menu, where you could download the drinks list. I didn't have WiFi, so I had to attract his attention again to ask for the password. I deliberately waited for another waiter to start, who was far more pleasant, before I ordered. The food was nothing special, if I'm honest, and the staff were mainly spending their time chatting to people they knew who had popped in to eat. I went here for a drink, but it took a while before I got a beer at the bar, but that is understandable. The floor was not very atmospheric. It was a touristy place and I did not like it that much. The people were...friendly and there was a DJ, which made it better.More

I wanted to like this place after reading reviews but we were treated so poorly. I had to ask for the check 4 times. The food was delivered cold and no one came back to our table once. We ordered the breaded chicken fillet meal...and the ribeye and two drinks. Both meals were cold and mediocre at best. We never complained. When my son went up and asked for water after his ordered water was never brought and the bartender blatantly ignored him. The same bartender ignored me twice (like I wasn’t human too-super weird) when I asked for the bill in Spanish. I finally found our server and he said he would get it and never returned. So I walked up to the upper bar and told another worker who finally assisted me. I think this is a locals only bar and tourists aren’t really welcome. My humble opinion.More

Its the only bar in town and they know it. Drinks are typical, service, eh, food? Really good!! really good portion. So far its the tastiest food and the price matches the portions. My only issue here is the service. Even when they aren’t busy...they dont clear off the tables until after you’ve left. Ew. No bueno.More

Disappointed after reading good reviews on Tripadvisor and Google. They overcharge tourists/foreigners. Came in here for a night drink with my husband and was charged 9,000 colones for a half a shot of maker’s mark and 9,500 colones for a shot of silver patron. Thats...twice what their online menu shows. We were also charged separately for 1/2 a ginger beer used to make my drink and for the mix to make my husbands drink. Came out paying a total of $40.00USD for 2 drinks. Bummer because we would have stuck around for more drinks and came back the next day for lunch since their food looks amazing but decided we didn't want to get scammed again. We tried a few other spots and when we mentioned how much we were charged by Bar Amigos they were shocked. We had better drinks at better and fancier locations for far less. For a full lunch with drinks at the treehouse restaurant we spent $60USD for 4 mixed drinks and 2 entrees. We also tried Bon Appetit a fancier restaurant for dinner with a bottle of champagne and came out paying $98.00USD for the bottle, a mixed drink, appetizer and 2 entrees. Taco Taco Taqueria is also very well priced and also a much nicer restaurant/bar than Bar Amigos. If you decide to give Bar Amigos a chance for a night out, be careful. Maybe the breakfast/lunch/dinner experience is different and may be why they have such high reviews but the night experience is not great.More

Seafood soup made with milk and served with rice. The cup looked small but was finally just appropriate to feed me well. The soup was perfect, condensated, rich of flavours and very hot (not spicy). Enjoyed a lot. Eating in the afternoon and the place...was pretty crowded. Some were eating lunch, some just having social activity with friends and drinks. Cosy atmosphere.More

Went for a late night meal after a long day and we had the pleasure of having Luis as our waiter. Luis was attentive and welcoming to first time patrons of both the venue and Costa Rica! The food was great and the music was...nice too! Unexpectedly large venue from what you see from the outside. The Patacones Amigos dish was phenomenal.More

Out of everything we ordered, the chicken with mushroom sauce was the only decent thing. The margarita was extremely awful...it even gave me goosebumps for how bad it was. We ordered a chifrijo which was okay. We also ordered a special burger and got a...regular one, so we sent it back and it took a while to get the special one. I think they are still trying to figure out what is special about a frozen patty and some ham on a seeded bun. Service is not very good either. Still waiting for the water we ordered twice and the ketchup...guy seemed offended when we sent the burger back and then asked for the check.More

Drinks, food and music all great. Everything reasonably priced. Great spot for locals and tourists alike. Definitely recommend going!

Doesn’t look like much from the outside, but the food was good, with a homemade taste. My husband had a generous portion of pork fried rice. I had a large, delicious bowl of tortilla soup. The local Bavaria beer was very good. We were there...for lunch, and it was quiet. But they have entertainment at night so it’s probably livelier then.More

Don't be put off by the outside. We thought it was a pool hall. Recommend by local. Went in, stage, dance floor, seats with view. Food was fabulous. Drinks great. Not too price.
