Doesn’t look like much from the outside, but the food was good, with a homemade taste. My husband had a generous portion of pork fried rice. I had a large, delicious bowl of tortilla soup. The local Bavaria beer was very good. We were there...for lunch, and it was quiet. But they have entertainment at night so it’s probably livelier then.More

Don't be put off by the outside. We thought it was a pool hall. Recommend by local. Went in, stage, dance floor, seats with view. Food was fabulous. Drinks great. Not too price.

Menu pictures. Not what you get. Over priced. Cold food. This is a tourist bar. Not a place for good food. Live band. Best to Pay as you go in local currency. Menu has a flan desert that look wonderful. I got a square pice...of flan that look like store bought.More

We tried to find a place to go out while spending the weekend in Monte Verde and this was a disappointment. Few people and high cover charge.

After a tortuous long journey to get here my wife and I decided to come in here for lunch and a drink and to see what it would be like to come back at night to see live band. There was a coach load of American...tourists in having lunch while we were there and after they left we were the only ones left, the waiter asked us how we were enjoying Monteverdi and we told him we'd just arrived,we ordered lunch and a drink but to be honest the food wasn't great so We decided to pay then go back to hotel,it was my first day in Monteverde and I still hadn't got to grips with the currency and only had U S dollars, the barman/waiter who was European I think could speak English and gave me a bill for 24 dollars,I gave him 30 dollars and asked him if he could give me the change in dollars as I knew he had them from the previous tourists,he said ok ,went to the till then came back with a pile of coins and told me they had no dollars,I looked at the coins and they all had 100 on them so assumed it was equivalent of 6 dollars but when I asked one of the staff at hotel he said they totalled one dollar.Staff was going to call bar and speak to manager but I told him to leave it as it was his word against mine and I should have learned the currency beforehand so I would just like to warn fellow travelers who read this that if you want a poor meal and ripped off by the barman Amigos is the place to go.More

I was excited to stop here when i arrived in Monteverde...walking in i was excited to get dinner here and spend the night having a few drinks. When i walked in it seemed like a great place, it was huge, pool tables, stage for music-seemed...like they always had something fun going on. Boy, was i wrong. There were 3 other people in the entire bar when we got there, 2 men playing chess at the end of the bar drinking soda, and another gentleman at the other end. We sat at the bar from roughly 5 minutes, bartender was right to our side talking to the one gentleman who seemed to be a regular...fine, who doesnt love their regular customers. Bartender looked at us multiple times and each time we raised our hand and said excuse me and nope, looked right away. After about 10 minutes of waiting he finally came over and gave us 2 beers and asked if there was a food menu, grab them from behind the bar and through them on the bar but seemed less then impressed we asked for anything at all-no smile, no hello, just a look of disgust. He went back to talking-at this time we were ready to order within 5 minutes of getting the menus, again we experienced the same thing, looked right at us and looked away after clearly seeing us trying to get his attention from 5 feet away. Then another gentleman came out who seemed to either own or manage the bar, walked right past us and as said excuse me in English and spanish so we could order, looked at and ignored. The bartender was done with his shift apparently so he came over to the other side of the bar, sat next to the customer he was talking to (2 seats away from me), smiled and laughed a little and looked away. So now there was just the possible manager/owner behind the bar, sitting with them talking and pouring shots for them. Our beers were now empty, we wanted to order another beer and food but at this rate we've tried many none rude ways to get their attention and we were obviously ignored on purpose so i was ready for the bill. Well all said and done it was an hour we were there and got 1 beer each, no bill, no nothing. So i looked on the bar list we had and left enough for the 2 beer, tax and a small tip....they didnt deserve any tip at all but it would have taken all day to get the bill with this kind of rudeness. I wanted to be rude as they were to us but i didnt want to drop to their level. Im a bartender and completely understand talking to your regulars and getting wrapped up in conversations but that wasnt the case here, we were flat out ignored even when they looked right at us, but even looking at us you could tell they were doing their best not to do. We didnt smell, look a certain way so i couldnt tell you what their problem was. Too bad with what it "seemed to be" i would have stopped every day, never again will i though.More

Definitely the best place in town for value and food quality..All prices shown on the menu include the annoying 10% service charge, which all other restaurants add to the menu prices. Service was good, but please note, i frequented the place early in the evenings,...and cannot guarantee/say this would be the case later in the evening. Whilst there, there was no band or loud musuc playing, however this may well happen later in the evening/weekends. Personally, that would not annoy me, or detract from the place.More

The vibe for eating here is not the best. There are smoke machines, loud music and drunk people that make the experience unpleasant. The food was the worst I have had so far in Costa Rica, not much flavour at all. For clubbing, I would...recommend Amigos but I would never eat here again.More

This is a garbage bar. It’s a huge place with lots of TVs but nothing on except the news or CSI Miami. The servers are inattentive and too busy talking with their buddies. I almost walked out of this bar without paying because I couldn’t...convince one of the garbage servers to bring me my bill. Awful place. Avoid.More
