This restaurant is amongst a cluster near the sea front in Alvor, and all are very good. After the Couvert, I had grilled Golden Bream (Dorada), and my wife had fried Sea Bream in batter. It was fun, seeing them being cooked right beside us on a charcoal grill. Both were delicious, but I felt mine was very slightly overcooked... More

It was our mission to try the local grilled sardines - they were delicious! We decided to share a portion as you get 6/7 with salad but added french fries to our order. All washed down with some local wine. We are still dreaming of them now!

Simply awful. Overpriced and tiny fish portions - you see a quoted price per kilo on the menu but are given no evidence of how large the portion is before the bill is presented. Our feeling was that we were charged at least doube for the size of fish actually given. Two of our party ordered sirloin steak - the... More

We had dinner twice in this friendly restuarant. I enjoyed both meals. We had piri piri chicken, which was devine. I had Algarve style salmon the second time, it was delicious, with a tomato sauce and potatoes. They serve the beautiful local wine and have other wines from Portugal, too. We will visit again later this year and will definately... More

There are three really great restaurants in the harbour area at Alvor. They are Arco Da Velha, A Ribeira and this one.It took us several years to fully appreciate Fishermans Rest. The staff do not moderate their behaviour for tourist sensibilities. In other words it delivers the most genuine (Portuguese) experience. Some reviewers complain of slow service, but why would you rush when... More

Had lunch here during our recent holiday in Alvor. The sardines were excellent & they offered chicken nuggets & fishfingers for the children. We also had king prawns, which were a bit overpriced &, unfortunately, over cooked, but on the whole the food was good & we would return

Why people would have chicken Piri piri at a fish restaurant is beyond me. There are a lot of restaurants in Alvor that serve great chicken piri piri and promote as such, but Fisherman's Restaurant, as the name implys is for fish! Wonderful oh so fresh grilled fish, depending on the catch of the day, the fish will vary. But... More
