The village of Lourmarin in Provence is empty of tourists and many restaurants are closed for the season, but we lucked out with a table at this great restaurant. It is owned by a brother (the chef) and sister (greeter and server) who are friendly and charming. We loved the salad with crisp local greens and fried goat cheese followed... More

We've been going to Provence for decades and have sadly seen many restaurants abandoning regional cuisine for fancier fare and gimmicks (foam topping etc.) So it was a delight to find that L'Oustalet still offers local Provencal meals such as rabbit and guinea fowl, washed down with Luberon wine. Husband and wife owners were delightful - husband cooked, she served... More

L'Oustalet is nicely situated in Lourmarin, and is a pleasant place to have lunch. It supposedly was Albert Camus' favorite restaurant in Lourmarin...but that was years ago! The food is pretty basic french cooking. OK, but nothing to write home about. We had a nice lunch here, but there are plenty of other places that I would go to for... More

This is a small, quiet restaurant with a view of the Chateau. Friendly, efficient staff; delicious meal; in an unpretentious, relaxed atmosphere. A pleasant place for a lovely meal in Provence.

Had dinner here...it was good not great...service nice. From other reviews I got the impression that the garden terrace was the place with the view etc. but only spot open this night was streetside dining. I must say upon arrival I thought about leaving as this seemed very different from TA reviews. But we stayed...food was good and sort of... More

This was a nice restaurant at a nice place with nice staff, but we were not too happy about the food. Two of the kids got a really good chicken, the other two pretty dry chicken and the rest of us got a pretty weird plat du jour, and the alioli contained far to much garlic. Ordering the food was... We returned there after our first visit there a couple of years ago and were not disappointed. The atmosphere is still the same : old arched building inside with a cosy feeling, lovely view of the castle while eating delicious food. When I close my eyes, I can recall the delicious flavour of the lapin au miel! And it was... More

Whenever we go somewhere we reserve the last day to return to the "best of" spots we've enjoyed during our stay. This restaurant won the lunch spot (La Bastide de Marie won dinner) and we had yet another delightful meal there. The owner is a woman who is charming and has an infectious laugh... she had three tables laughing and... More

it took one hour to receive our one course meal and when it got there it was cold tasteless, green beans from the can, blend aioli... we should have left when we saw the bathroom.....a real shame to the eyes of foreigners ... yes I own a restaurant....in Toronto and the French still have a lot to learn about cleanliness... Driving though Provence we started to look for a place to eat about 1:30. This is too late to start, we found. Located our first restaurant with parking just after 2, and they wouldn't serve us. In Lourmarin, which I think is Peter Mayle's current home, we found free municipal parking and a street of shops and cafes. The first... More
