I had to choose between a known restaurant and this new place. After visiting the site, I choose Brasserie Bijgaarden. Am I glad I did! We went for the Kasteelmenu, all different dishes, and even the option to choose a cheese plate for dessert. Friendly and competent service, nice atmosphere... In short, all that is needed to make for a... More

Brasserie Bijgaarden has a classic look, both from the outside and the inside. The menu is traditional, with some modern twist, but always with a reference to the long gone days when the restaurant had a Michelin Star. I guess that history also causes the somewhat elevated prices. Food is good and so is the service. Bilingual waiters take care... More

loved the decoration. it is a very classy place. food is not spectacular (the usual standard stuff, nothing you would remember for a long time). there was a gin and tonic on special offer but think it was 13 €, which is scandalous. one of the younger waiters spent AT LEAST 20 minutes chatting to his friends who were dining.... I took my customers to lunch here. Nice quiet atmosphere. Very busy, so reservation might be recommended but not necessary. Great goat cheese salad (vegetarian!)! Selection of vegetarian meals Medium price range for Belgian standards. Great helpfull staff

A restaurant with a lot of classical Belgian dishes on the menu. I always like the 'américan préparé' that you can ask to be prepared or prepare yourself. Service is friendly and quick. The interior is classical dark with a nice veranda and a shady terrace when the weather is good. No thrills but just good quality and always a... More

Went there with a family of four, including our grandmother. The 'Farmer Salad' was a poor excuse for a some leaves lathered in salad sauce, 2 slices of cucumber and the worst, cheapest rolled up ham and cheese ever for the cheeky price of €9.90. Aldi has a better bowl of salad. Not that one usually comes across this kind... More

Ate at this brasserie with a party from work. The location is very nice opposite to the castle. The interior, however, I felt was somewhat disappointing and lacked cosiness, probably because of the way too bright lighting in general and spots in the ceiling one of which was really directly in my face and I can imagine in other people's... Don't be put off by the name (as I nearly was), it's a big serious restaurant. Food is very good. Wine selection is good and reasonably priced. Service is fair and our group of 8 had a great meal
