Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Went there for lunch, my first time at this pub and was very happy with everything. Decor, cleanliness, staff, service and meals, even the plates were warm! Nothing was too much trouble for staff so well done!

I have been to the Highlander Hotel for a meal many times, never disappointed. Lunch today was the seniors roast of the day, roast pork with vegetables and gravy. With the roast, an ice-cream sundae and a pint of cold beer, it was only $23...and worth every cent. The ambience of the Highlander is great, the service was punctual and friendly. It won't be long before I return.More

Can't believe the hotel is out of house red wine again for the second day in a row. We were not offered a glass from a bottle as compensation. Supposed to pay full bar prices.

I attended for a group booking with a regular retired group that meets there every couple of months for lunch. As Seniors we take advantage of the Seniors menu which they have there during the week. The food was very good and we even get...a ice cream sundae for desert. I look forward to the next lunch we have there.More

Went to the Highlander for lunch. The dining room was large and airy with tables nicely spaced so we could hear the conversation. The menu and wine list were ok. Service was great and our meals came out within a reasonable time. The main courses...however were below par. Two of us had brisket. It was so dry as to be almost inedible. It came with slaw and chips. The other two of us had rather tough duck which came with potatoes and broccolini. The desserts fortunately were somewhat better. Can't say I'll go there againMore

Decided to go to the highlander hotel for lunch outside of our usual area as it was a birthday meal out. The complimentary bread rolls were soft fresh and the butter soft room temperature so if I stopped there the meal would have had a...perfect score, l had the chicken schnitzel well you can't mess that up, standard pub formed pressed chicken meat covered in crumbs, they sell the same in supermarkets everywhere. But the chips were like bullets hard as, and the salad was pushed inside an egg cup l think it was three spinach leaves and a piece of cos lettuce, but the bread roll was nice. My wife had the pork belly when she found the meat under the slab of fat she said it was very nice it was served with what looked like potato pieces cooked once cooked twice cooked thrice until whatever it was,was totally inedible dry hard and oily and a sliver of fennel, but she did say the bread roll was nice. And to ad insult to injury when we got home I realised we were over charged by $5. So to put it in a nutshell once in a lifetime experience, not again in this lifetime.More

Just way way way too much oil used. Margarita pizza toppings, for example, just slid off the base. Service though was top notch and the food came out in good time. Unfortunately though the food was average this time around.

This place is filled with staff that are just there to put themselves thru uni there is no real care or pride in there job. Although there was 1 senior staff member that took there job seriously. The steak we ordered was overcooked by a...considerably amount from MR we got well done. The salad were disgracefully made and presented. No English mustard and the chips were obviously held to long when you charge the prices you do you need to lift your gameMore

0urselves and two friends come to lunch last Thursday. We had been previously so Decided it would be good to visit for lunch as they have a reasonable menu and very Good salad bar. We all ordered fish which was delivered to our table completely...overwhelmed by batter and I have to say it was the worst pub lunch fish meal I have ever eaten....after taking all the batter of the fish. Our friends were really disappointed. I think the kitchen need to rethink how they serve fish in future as I am sure many others are going to be disappointed as well. Service was good and the salad bar had a very good selection. Would we come again? Maybe.More

I visit Adelaide for work very regularly. I usually stay at Mawson Lakes Hotel due to its proximity to the current project site. A few trips back I ended up here at The Highlander, and to my delight the room was clean, quiet, and modern,...and the restaurant was delicious. Unfortunately after asking the Adelaide team to book here again, this time i ended up in what the local office tells me was referred to as “the last room left”, however on enquiring with reception, I’m told this is not the case and they can move me for an additional 40%/night. This studio is gross. It’s not that its not modern, it’s dirty, the doors are scarily rickety, and for some reason a studio has access to a weird little smokers area so you feel like your sandwiched between a loud car park, and other random people having conversations. I dont really write reviews, but this is bad. Acceptable for a hostel, but totally a shock if you’ve stayed in a newer room or eaten at the restaurant prior to seeing these front rooms. Not a business friendly environment at all. Would never meet here (other than the restaurant)More

Good selection of hot vegetables and salads to accompany meals from the salad bar. Good drinks menu and desserts...as well. Used our Entertainment Card vouchers, so it was buy one meal and the second was complimentary. Excellent service. Had a great night out.More
