With so many boutique wineries in the Granite Belt it was hard for us to narrow down a choice, but I feel we made the right one in visiting Hidden Creek for a tasting and lunchtime meal. The whole experience was extremely enjoyable, despite the (welcome) rain curtailing our plans to eat in the picturesque outdoor setting. The tasting was informative and not rushed in any way and we were able to try some varieties that were new to us. There were several standouts, including the Viognier, Tempranillo and the 2001 Rare Tawny. Lunch consisted of a delicious share platter of local charcuterie, cheeses, fruits, biscuits and onion jam, plus a 'taste-off' between the Chardonnay and the Viognier. We came away with satisfied appetites, a bottle of the latter, plus bottle of the Tempranillo to keep it company.

We had a winery tour with friends and Hidden Creek winery was fourth out of six wineries but we also had the pleasure of stopping for lunch. 16 of us ate and every person enjoyed their meals. I tasted the Thai Chicken skewers and the beef ribs. Both were delicious! I Do think the prices are a little high but the service and food is very good.

We recently enjoyed an al fresco lunch at this winery. The restaurant has an attractive setting with a lovely outlook over a large pond complete with ducks. A friendly dog joined us for a while, lying happily under our table. One of us enjoyed a tasty main of lamb shank, but the beef pasta was a little disappointing. The overall experience was very pleasant.

Well, the food filled a hole. Pros are that the location is near and other wineries and it’s a cute location with the vineyards in sight. The staff were nice, but not attentive. Unfortunately the food was underwhelming and our party of 7 did not enjoy their meals. Very overpriced in my view, having paid $30 for my bland and overcooked pasta, a rather small portion. The chocolate brownie was dry, barely edible. We had to order 24 hours in advance which was strange - just a side note. Unlike other wine tastings, the wine flight is left on the table before you with no explanation of the wines, the notes, the vintages ect. Barely a thimbleful in each glass to try, so it’s hard to get a good grasp of the flavour profiles. Not a great experience. The wines were in my view average, but I acknowledge this may be my personal taste and preferences. This winery has a lot of potential but unfortunately did not hit the mark.

Teddy we acknowledge the wine flight experience can be better as commented upon in your feedback. We are reviewing this iniative to ensure a great experience for the patron into the future. The pasta we serve is actually gluten free so we can cater for food intolerances, so that style unfortunately contributes somewhat to your descriptor. Apologies ! Your wine assesment is a little surprising as we continue to receive many wine show medals and trophies for our wines. I guess wine is a subjective commodity.

I had booked Sunday lunch here for the four of us and we were all very excited to be dining next to the winery under the trees overlooking the dam. The setting is beautiful, but sadly we cannot say the same for the service or the food. It really seems as those the owners/ staff are tired and want to just pack up and go home. We had to repeat requests (for water) several times, and often had to wave to get the waiter's attention for very basic things. The food was expensive for what it was and none of us expressed satisfaction with our respective meals. All were rather small and lacking in taste. The antics of the resident dog were perhaps the most exciting thing here. I believe a fresh injection of interest is required here.

We have visited Hidden Creek a number of times, in fact we stayed in the adjoining accommodation weeks ago. It is such a special little spot. As a group of 10 (6 adults and 4 kids) we arrived to enjoy some of the wines. After a very abrupt greeting when we walked in we were seated. We ended up leaving without even ordering. It is safe to say we felt extremely unwelcome, I’d say a major hassle for them, when we tried to order the kids dessert. We had absolutely no concern at all about being told it’d be a long wait, or even that we couldn’t have it at all, it was just the manner it was delivered. I did cringe a little when the husband had to step in and clarify what was being barked at us in a more appropriate way. And to allay any thoughts we had sparked the treatment: the kids are aged between 8-16 and were patiently just sitting at the table, also my sister-in-law who was trying to order was being extremely friendly as we were a little nervous after our initial welcoming we’d get our heads bitten off. Totally empathise customer service can be tiring/stressful but that does not give you permission to treat others like that. We are sad we will never be able to go back as it was an annual favourite!

Myself and family visited here yesterday, we were greeted by Doug the owner and his wife, super friendly, we did some wine tasting, all the wines were delicious, we then took a walk along the vineyard which was beautiful. My family live in Melbourne, my husband and I from the Uk so was really excited to visit. Once we did the tasting, we sat down on the deck to eat lunch.. the best platter of meats, cheeses, pickles, relishes, breads and oils.. it was by far the best any of us had eaten for some time! We also drank more delicious wine! Will definitely Recommned and come back next time!! Thanks Doug & Carolyn 🍷👌

On Sunday May 2 our group of 8 arrived at the winery. One of our couples went inside to see if they were available for our group of 8 to do a wine tasting. They were received with abruptness and near to hostility to say we cannot come in from a female staff member. There was no explanation as to why we could not enter. From what we could see from outside the cellar doors the establishment was not full of patrons. The female member of our group needed to use the toilets and when asked if she could use the toilet she was refused. We were taken aback about the reception we received. This hostile reception was also directed towards another couple who arrived after us and all they wanted was to buy 2 glasses of wine and sit on the grass bank like a group who were already at a picnic table. I would not recommend to anyone to go to Hidden Valley Winery

I’ve been visiting, and buying wines off, Hidden Creek for a few years (mainly Shiraz and Tempranillo which is first rate). With its gorgeous lakeside position and fine wines to taste (and terrific cafe… Leanne’s lamb shanks are simply to die for) it’s always been a must visit on our twice yearly Granite Belt visits. But of late Hidden Creek has gone to a whole new level. The flight of wines option introduced in 2020 (a healthy pour of 6 wines to taste with matched wine snacks) was a brilliant innovation (for years my Austrian wife has been saying “Why the hell don’t wineries on the Granite Belt offer some snacks as part of the wine tasting experience, like in Europe?”’). But the coupe de gras is the new wine range. On our most recent visit we were fortunate to taste their new Unsung Hero range of exotic premium Mediterranean style wines including Ansonica, Fiano, Lagrein, Aglianico & Touriga. Each of these wines to my taste buds (I have over 1000 bottles of Granite Belt wine in my cellar) is a candidate for the title of the best wine ever made on the Granite Belt. And if you’re lucky enough to have multi award winning wine maker Andy (Williams) pour and explain the wines to you, well… you can only go home with a smile on your face. His knowledge of and enthusiasm for the art of wine is infectious. Moreover his new range of wines are as good as you will taste anywhere in Australia

Hard pass folks. The “lady “ owner is incredibly rude and shouldn’t be in hospitality . Incomprehensible to be honest . Great looking venue - but honestly that’s about it . There are loads of other incredible places to explore in the area -suggest looking around for a happier place to dine .

We had an excellent lunch here. Don’t be put off by the select menu - everything was delicious, the service was excellent and it’s a beautiful spot to spend the afternoon. We didn’t feel rushed out and the wines are top notch. We will definitely return when in the area again

The wines are really good and the staff are lovely. I wasn't sure what to expect - but it was a really great experience. I learnt about their wines and area while visiting and the outlook is really nice. Platters are good too - no longer a cafe

Rudness 10/10, lack of customer service 10/10 and this was before we could even make it in side. We were bombarded with abuse. We've spent alot of money there in the past, BUT NO MORE, we are done - never again. Extremely disappointed. Salter Gold Coast

Ian, Let's shine a light on this matter and add some perspective. You did not enter our premises - if you had even approached our front door our signage would have informed you that persons who did not have a reservation could not be accommodated as we were fully booked. Neither you nor any of your group (with dogs) who turned up without a reservation (which are required for COVID19 reasons), without checking in or wearing masks (which you were required to do) approached myself (I was wearing a mask) or my employees or called ahead to inquire if we could assist you with a table for lunch. No, you chose to arrive unannounced & commandeer an outside table which was reserved for customers who did have a lunch reservation & were about to arrive, taking extra chairs from other tables until I saw what you were doing & advised you that your behaviour was unacceptable & asked you to leave the premises. As I was attending to other guests at adjacent tables whilst waiting for you to leave, you responded with verbal abuse & obscene gestures, all the while spruiking about how much money you had to spend. Let's put the boot on the other foot Ian. I wonder how you would feel if I turned up to your place of employment Benchmark with a group of friends and ignore government covid mandates, by not checking in on the Covid QR Code, by not wear wearing masks, and without an appointment and expect to receive gratitude for turning up by telling you how much money we had to spend. I am extremley disappointed in your behaviour. I'm glad that you took your money & your disgusting, disrespectful, ungrateful & entitled attitude elsewhere.

Beautiful place with an amazing outlook. One of the best platters I've ever had. Plenty of variety and lots of biscuits and bread. Also great wines to match. Very friendly staff who are very helpful.
