Thanks to Covid, it’s been a while since I’ve been to the Malvern Hotel. This return visit was wonderful!
As I always prefer my steaks well done, I am always having to explain my preference to chefs.
Often I have to endure my steaks being ‘butterflied’ or sliced! Or more often, they refuse to cook it right through.
But the chef at the Malvern Hotel is a star!
He cooked my filet Mignon to perfection. The accompanying salad and vegetables were beautifully cooked and presented.
Oh, and the sour dough bread is delicious!

We recently celebrated my wife's 80th birthday with 25 family and friends at the Malvern Hotel. We looked at a number of venues but the Malvern offered a very competitive package and we knew from previous visits that the quality of the food and service was excellent. We and our guests were not disappointed. Everything went smoothly as planned and the private room we had was perfect for our celebration. Thank you to all the staff.

I read a very positive newspaper review of this place but had never gone. We had some good news to celebrate and were nearby. It was open for a late lunch and it was just right. The dining area is very nice and the service was good. We had the stuffed and prosciutto-wrapped chicken Maryland and the porterhouse steak. Both were excellent. The total bill with a couple of drinks was just under $100.

Food was unacceptably bad and staff were disinterested. I’ve been a long standing customer and this time I went in and wanted a plain chicken schnitzel (chicken parmigiana without the topping). What was delivered was dry and burnt - clearly made well in advance and left to dehydrate on the side somewhere in the kitchen. I never send food back but couldn’t eat what was presented. Staff were ‘surprised’ but really didn’t care. Not sure what the story is but it will be a while before I try again.
Very disappointed.

My family and friends (a total of 11 dinners) booked the Chefs Table area of the Malvern Hotel. The hotel itself has a beautiful atmosphere and very good quality food. It was however, very disappointing to be served by extremely rude wait staff!! All members of our table were disgusted in both the male and female wait staff who served us on that particular evening from 8pm onwards!! I believe I am a fair and reasonable person and can tolerate the miss givings of peoples personalities but on this occasion I was livered!! For this reason I would never return to dine at The Malvern Hotel. Considering that so many people have lost their jobs in our current climate, the two wait staff should be grateful that they have employment!!

Friendly staff. Varied menu. Good food. Different menu deals on different nights. Love the white table cloths. First time here, will definitely be back. Conveniently located close to where we stayed

Words cannot describe how great out meal was. Great service and great food on a busy Thursday night. Two steaks cooked to perfection. Lamb casserole that was beyond tasty it was that good. Pasta that slid down. First time but wont be the last time.

Clearly a new chef. What was on the menu was not what was dished up. Waiter was rushing. Disappointing compared to previous visits.

Family celebration - 20 people.
Quite a crowd. I expected a limited menu but the offered everyone their normal menu.
I had Crispy Haloumi as an appetizer - it didn't disappoint - very tasty with the sauces on the plate.
I then had the fish of the day which was delicious - the fillet could have been a smidgeon larger but still very satisfying. The crispy skin was exquisite.
The chocolate pudding with a side of ice cream was the "icing on the cake" and delicious.
Others had the full range of menu items and it appeared that everyone enjoyed what they ordered.
The bar was fine, after all, it is a hotel.
Service was excellent considering the size of the group. The food came together, and hot - staff were very helpful and receptive to requests.
Very enjoyable evening.

We really enjoyed our large delicious meals. The quality of meats were of a high standard and the pricing fair.
I do highly recommend this restaurant if after a casual meal out with great service and a warm ambience.

Small room accommodated ten girls easily, and quite private. A large range of meals - my scallop dish (main) was nicely presented, and tasty - included pasta, fish and chips, calamari, chicken, salads, etc. Good service, even with drink orders taken rather than going to the bar.

First Christmas function for the year at the MALVERN. Barramundi was excellent and creme brûlée was superb. $50 a head was great value.

Steak and Fish are always cooked to perfection - but the vegetables are regularly cold; spoils the meal. Come on Chef / kitchen - get it together.
Other local pubs don’t have this problem.
No longer confident to bring colleagues and friends here after work, as have been embarrassed several times now, when half the meal was cold, when it was delivered. Service is alway good, as is the atmosphere - it’s a shame the only thing letting the side down, is the cold veg. Happy to pay good money for a good meal, but not a cold one.

The hotel has several rooms to select from when deciding to have Lunch.
We were in the main front area and it was open, bright and very warm thanks to the open fires. The are a wide selection of Entrees and Mains to select form and to wine list is very good. A private dinning area is available for special functions. The Tapers afternoon session was well patronized. The food was good but the only negative comment I can make was that there was a lack of any vegetables on my dish. I selected the Veal cutlet which only came with a spoon full of potato mash. It would appear that if you require any additional vegetables, they were available under the sides section, which I thought was a bit stingy given the cutlet dish cost was $36. Otherwise the venue was very good and worth a visit. I suggest you perhaps try the Fish & Chips @ $27.
