I give this restaurant two stars as the food was good but the restaurant's staff who I believe to be the restaurant manager was rude and didn't help us much with the menu she made us uncomfortable so much so that I settled for haddock and chips wich I didn't want but I felt as tho I was being a... Thank you for your review of the steam inn. I am glad to hear that you enjoyed your food. All of our staff have full training and understanding of the menu so I am disappointed to hear otherwise. I would very much like to hear more about the issues you speak about. Could you please send me an email with... More

Took the Jacobite ( Hogwarts Express) to Mallaig. When we arrived we dashed in here to grab a seat before the hordes arrived. My wife had Haggis Stuffed Chicken i had good old Haddock and Chips. The food was very good indeed. Fish very fresh. Saw others eating Langoustines etc. it all looked fantastic. If you do go to Mallaig... More

Had a good lunch of seafood chowder here last year in the beer garden so a pleasure to return to the restaurant. Mussels, lemon sole and scallops all perfectly cooked followed by fudge cheesecake. Delicious. Always a good sign when local folks are enjoying themselves too.

Had 2 great evenings at The Steam Inn. Varied menu - lots of seafood as you would expect, but also good meat and vegetarian choices. I enjoyed the monkfish scampi - delicious. Good atmosphere and the staff were very accommodating as well. Special call out to Gregor who excelled himself with great attention to diners - Gregor, you could get... More

We went in here really to shelter from the wind and rain, we weren't disappointed. The lunch was fantastic, my husband reckoned it was the best fish and chips he had ever had. Good range of food available on the menu, friendly staff and nice surroundings

After a wonderful drive up from Fort William we popped into the Steam Inn for dinner. The fish and chips were very good and they had a great list of specials. But what really made our meal was the excellent and attentive service from our waiter Gregor. Definitely recommend.

Called here on spec, we were quite late but they accommodated us for lunch, staff were friendly & helpful. The crab claws were yummy 😋 the curry was slightly lacking in chicken content, but after this was pointed out more chicken was brought out with the offer of a free dessert, a nice surprise, the curry was very tasty too.... Travelled from Rannoch to Mallaig on the train and had an hour or two to spend before the run back. The steam Inn has a great seafood menu board outside, however I fancied something more traditional. Haddock in breadcrumbs and oatmeal was to die for.

Called in after being recommend by a local lad we met on the train. The place was empty when we got there which is usually a concern but how wrong could we be. Nice decor, comfortable seating and the food was delicious and fresh. I had the languistines with garlic butter and my wife had the haddock. We didn't have... More
