Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were so lucky to come across Cornerstone while on a short break in Mallaig. The staff are super friendly, the ambience just right, lovely views and the food was BRILLIANT! I can really recommend this restaurant. I will certainly return when I next visit...Mallaig. Unbelievable quality at a reasonable price.More

We stopped in here for lunch before boarding the Jacobite Train. The staff was very friendly. They asked us when our train was leaving and promised to get us out in time, which they did. We had a table near the window, so we had...a nice view of the town below and water. We ordered the fish and chips and the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich. Food was very good, especially the fish and chips. I would recommend this restaurant.More

My family and I visited the Cornerstone while waiting for a ferry in Mallaig. We arrived at the very end of their regular lunch service, but the staff kindly seated us anyway. All members of our party ordered fish and chips (I know, we're boring)...which was delicious and served in very large portions. The staff were kind and very attentive, the atmosphere is cozy and the view of the harbor is pretty special, certainly befitting a seafood restaurant. I got the impression that the Cornerstone is a very authentic local restaurant, it's a peaceful place to slow down and enjoy some seafood, I can't recommend it highly enough.More

One of the best meals we've had in our travels across Scotland. The ingredients were fresh and the preparation light-handed and wonderful. Highly recommend the battered fish and chips and the Cullen Skink, but frankly ever bite was delicious. Lovely view of the busy harbor....What a treat to find a spot like this in tiny Mallaig.More

A lovely evening. The rainbow trout starter was stunning, such a good mix of flavours and textures. The mussels were a huge hit. And as for the desserts… A very talented young chef. Service was also excellent. The chef’s mum was one of our waitresses...and she was lovely and lots of fun. Highly recommend.More

My husband and I were lucky enough to be squeezed in.at short notice and the experience exceeded our expectations! The staff were charming and helpful, the ambience was most pleasant and the food was of very high quality! Everything we ordered was full of flavour...and cooked to perfection and the buttery, melt-in-the-mouth shortbread served with our dessert was sublime! Definitely worth a visit.More

Me and my wife have been holidaying near Mallaig for many years now and always have at least one trip to Cornerstone while there. Every time the food has been great, the severice prompt and polite. Has a lovely family vibe as it should have...with it being run by a family with a young chef cooking and serving food way above his age and experience would suggest. Always enjoy catching up and seeing the progress the little hidden gem has as each year passes. The only downside being they were out of their famous langoustines again, but that also shows that they only serve fresh seafood and fresh fish. Unlike other establishments in the town who served me not so fresh and obviously frozen seafood. So as advised I will be phoning and ordering them in advance nextime. Already counting the days till we get to go back next year. A real treat for any seafood lover.More

We have a well behaved Labrador and sadly (although I understand) precludes us from many places. We arrived in Malliag on the ferry at lunch time and so we asked if we could have lunch. We were made very welcome (Lola too) and had a...superb meal. The special was a Halibut in ink squid linguine with Mallaig prawns which we both had. We followed this with the two desserts that were available and these were the star of the show! A glass of a very nice house white and ‘proper’ coffee finished off a great meal. The service throughout was brilliant and it was a great experience for us to be made so welcome. Great food, great ambiance, what’s not to like. Would return in a heartbeat, thank you!More
