We've been invited to Captain Cook´s alias local restaurant when we went to diving center. The guy was nice, smiling he looks ok. He told us he will cook and all dishes are served with rice or what we want and it's no problem with nothing even with pick up or after dinner drive to our hotel. When we found... More

We went to Captain Cook's on a friend recommendation. When we made an reservation, we ordered lobsters for dinner. When we arrived to the restaurant, Mr. Cook, who was very pleasant when he met us on the beach, became nervous, strange, not welcoming at all. He brought a plate of lobsters and cobs that was just terrible, not eatable. All... More

Food was really tasty! we came back a couple times because the owner was really nice to us and the food was good! we ordered in the afternoon for the dinner and everything was ready by the time we arrived! Price was fair. I recommend it!

We stumbled upon this little home-style restaurant after a long walk along the beach, not quite knowing where to find somewhere to eat. The welcome was warm and friendly. The food was freshly cooked while we waited and Captain Cook himself waited on us in his gracious, hospitable manner. Sitting in his home courtyard, we felt like honoured house guests.... More

Very friendly owner and wife. Absolutely the best and cheapest stay for lowbudget backpackers. Cheapest bed is the one in the attic for $10.00. Although the beaches are magnificent the place is rather boring compare to Nungwi and Kendwa. But the people here are about the most friendliest you'll ever meet.

I would definitely recommend it. It is a little bit difficult to find, especially when it is dark as it is located in the village but you can ask around and you will find the way. The family is really, really nice and the food was very good. We had fresh fish and green banana which I like very much.

We met Captain Cook on the beach where he was handing out home-made business cards for his restaurant. Taken by his enterprising spirit and sincerity, we decided to give his place a try. Walked through the village during the day to order in advance - a good idea as it's a little hard to find in the dark. Charming place,... More
