We have been staying down the street for awhile and have thoroughly enjoyed watching rugby in a friendly but lively atmosphere, having a pint after work, enjoying the Pub Quiz on a Thursday night but most of all...the Chicken and Mushroom Pie. If I could say anything, I would love a bit of sea salt to season prior to baking,... More

There was a local choir drinking in the bar but they also put on a show for the customers. Good brains beer, food was good but mac and cheese needs work. Overall an enjoyable experience

My wife and I called in for an evening meal and was shown a table straight away by the waiter, The meal was ordered and served very quickly and tasted very good, it was warm and comfortable in the restaurant and a nice atmosphere there was also a large dining area to the rear of the premises which is ideal... The place itself was really nicely decorated, however the food was poor and the service wasn't great. The waitress needs to learn some customer service (smiling, asking if the food was enjoyed, wearing her long hair up- very unhygienic!) The sandwiches were both very average with unappetising crunchy bread.

The Duke is a classic, homely and comfortable pub. My family and I had a great meal here (steak burger). What was extra special is that they allow dogs in the old library, so the family dog came along, who also had a great time.

Fine effort at an Xmas dinner. Service was prompt and food was really good for the price. An excellent effort.

My first time here, took 10 minutes for us to be seated, we were told the gentleman was on his way. Drinks arrived quickly. Waited about half an hour to order food. Starters came after 40 minutes and was nice. Main course followed an hour later and was not worth the wait. Turkey wasn't proper turkey, roast potatoes looked like... More

Make no mistake, the Duke is a great pub and welcomes locals and visitors alike. It can be lively, especially on a match day, and when there is live music, but it's big enough to find a space. We've eaten at the Duke a few times and have always enjoyed the good quality, good value traditional dishes on offer. We... More
