Everything covered in oil, bland, overpriced. Didn't like any of the starter choices, couldn't finish the main (as so oily) and dessert was undercooked dessert apple, not peeled with super sweet crumble sprinkled over with a teaspoon of ice cream. Still feeling queasy writing this...More

I always thought this restaurant was out of my price range unless for a special occasion but the midweek deal of 2 courses for £21 proved otherwise. Actually, I would be happy to pay an awful lot more for the standard of food I received....More

Managed to get a last minute booking for Sunday lunch at 2.30pm. We were warmly welcomed and staff remained attentive throughout without being pushy. The roast beef and pork belly were cooked almost to perfection and the presentation was spot on. The green veggies and...More

Spent an evening here with friends as we do like a gin cocktail or two. It was very busy and very noisy. Appeared to be mostly groups of ladies. Extensive gin menu available, as well as cocktails and normal bar menu. Cocktails were £8.95, single...More

Description
TOPES restaurant is a modern British restaurant centrally located in Rochester High Street in Kent and has been awarded two AA rosettes. Chris Small, head chef and co-owner, has created several different menus, including a special set price lunch (L16 for 2 courses and coffee) and mid-week evening menu (3 courses for L25). In addition, there is an a la carte menu for Friday and Sunday evenings and traditional roasts on Sunday. All ingredients are bought in fresh on a daily basis from local suppliers and the menus reflect seasonal produce. The restaurant is set in a 15th, 16th and 17th Century building and many of the original features remain. However, the restaurant has a modern feel to it to reflect the modern style of dishes on offer.
