Thoroughly pleasant experience… Visited on a Friday evening. My wife was hesitant following reading one of the views. First impressions do count… We were greeted at the front door by two polite very smartly dressed gentlemen in black suits that opened the door for us and welcomed us in. We were unsure of the location of the restaurant and were... More

Thought we'd sporadically have a date night and The Charles Dickens has the view and food that you want! I had the pork belly and scallops starter could have eaten 20 more portions of that! Delicious! Staff are always really helpful with smiles on their faces.

Went for dinner here recently and had a superb meal . Husbands sea bass was perfectly cooked and my sticky lemon chicken breast with it's lovely mix of flavours with the olives and capers was delicious. The staff are lovely, so helpful and the view from the restaurant must be the best in Broadstairs . Love this place !

I am wondering why nobody in Broadstairs check the safety of the restaurants . Our great lazy public officers in charge for look after our health should check and visit places like this restaurant, verify the clearness and the food they supply to the customers. I had sea food, it was horrible , smelly old oysters and mussels even worse.... More

This is my first bad review and I really hope I'll never have to write another one. It's got a terrible rating because of the diabolical standard of service. We were on a break away and will probably never go back to Broadstairs anyway (it's beautiful you should go!) but we'd certainly not go back here!!! I can't comment much... More

Quite unbelievably rude staff. We are a polite and happy bunch, but were made to feel like we were intruding and left feeling very unhappy having paid for the experience. The food was excellent and top marks to the kitchen, but when I pay to eat in a restaurant I expect a degree of effort from service staff and floor... More

Oddly celebrated my parents 25th wedding anniversary about 25 years ago, cue several changes of ownership and a lick of paint but it saw me returning to a very old haunt of mine from years ago. Despite their ownership of the venue being of more recent times, I was aware of the pub having transferred into a Thorley Tavern. Not... More

We had lunch in the bar on a monday an it was a great experience. Delicious and worth the price. The public was exclusively british - wich is great for a foreign tourist !

When asked for a table the surly moody waitress just shouted us down: "You should have waited by the door!". She approached another annoyed looking lady and they deliberated whether to sit us down or not as if we weren't there. Charming people's skills. As it was a busy sunny Sunday afternoon and we haven't booked we decided to stay... More
