If you visit Izamal I think this is one of the best/safest places to eat. If your vegetarian difficult, or vegan almost impossible. Great food from the Yucatan where they fry in lard and everything has chicken broth. Again, the food is excellent, but you may need to break your diet to eat there.

This restaurant was a stop on our tour of the Yellow City. Not knowing what to expect we were blown away. The food was fantastic. The restaurants ambience was absolutely incredible. This is a must stop in Izamal

My partner and I decided to go to Izamal and told ourselves repeatedly that it was to see the sights. I knew, however, that for me it was so we could have lunch at Kinich, which we did. We both had the cochinita pibil--delicious--and, because we both inhaled the totopos, neither of us could finish the abundant portions we were... More

Kinich is one of the most popular restaurants in Izamal, and I was worried it would be very touristy, but when we went for dinner most of the other diners were locals. It is only one block away from the entrance to the main ruins of Kinich Kak-Moo, so it might be more crowded at lunch, but it is worthwhile... More

We chose this restaurant in Izamal for lunch break on the way back from Chichen Itza, clean & spacious restaurant with historical conservation facade for local Yucatan cuisine. Good choices of dishes served hot with plenty of chips, tortillas, black bean soup & salsa. Seems very popular with locals also coming for lunch from cities nearby.

This was the best food we found in our two-week tour of the Yucatan. The chile rellenos were very unusual but incredible. Everyone in our party of 30 raved about the food. Wonderful friendly, attentive service. Don't miss this one.

You really can't go wrong here. Staff is all thoroughly professional, but with the wonderful warm friendliness that Yucatan is known for. There are some bilingual staff; just ask if you really need help. A very well-stocked bar! Ask if they have the "Izamal" agave liquor; if they do you can get a taste of it. This is THE ONLY... More

This was a good find. Nicely done, with palapa-style dining room and authentic furniture. The food was Mayan-focused and very good and the margaritas were excellent. The servers did not speak English, so communication was a bit of a challenge, but this was our problem - not theirs!
