Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were all super impressed with the Mallee Fowl. The layout inside and out was so interesting and the food was unbelievable - serves were generous and a great size. Staff were very friendly and helpful especially Frank who kept the whole place entertained with...his jokes and good humour. This place is a must to visit and you need to book as it's so busy. We can't wait to go back.More

What a great experience! From the moment you enter it’s a different world looking at all the rustic items adorning the walls. Oh and the hosts are very likeable and know their jobs. They work the diners very well! And the food is to die...for!! We had the beef and reef. Cooked to perfection. Cannot recommend highly enough. Should be on everyone’s bucket list.More

We haven’t visited for over 10 years and the dining room is still very special. Set in a very secluded, rustic, Aussie bush setting there are many interesting facets to the Mallee Fowl. My only criticism is the carpark on a dark night is very...hard to navigate and finding the front door may also be a challenge! The owner and the staff are exceptionally friendly and up for a chat to talk about the many item of memorabilia decorating the walls and ceiling. The food was 5 star. The beef and reef was a very tender piece of scotch cooked perfectly as ordered. The owner said he would take it back if I wasn’t satisfied as he was so confident of the chef’s skills. The Chicken Oscar was a breast served on mashed sweet potato with avocado, asparagus, prawns and a hollandaise sauce; it was delicious. We were very happy with the home-style lemon cheesecake for desert. They have a good range of quality wines and we enjoyed a bottle of Shiraz. It was an excellent evening and it won’t be our last visit. Very highly recommended.More

What an amazing place! Full of hilarious Knick knacks inside and out, this eclectic mix of “memorabilia” won’t be everyone’s cup of tea but will definitely keep you amused whilst waiting for your dinner! The outside dining/entertaining area is huge and looks like a great...space to meet up with your mates over a bevy or two. Beautiful feathered fowls of all kinds to admire, add to the rustic country atmosphere. We were warmly welcomed inside and looked after the entire evening even though the place was packed and they were sadly short some staff. It would have been easy to forget a single couple amongst tables of fairly large groups but they looked after us well, ensuring our orders were put through so as to have our meals arrive in a timely manner. This was very thoughtful as I admit we were worried we may have to wait HOURS for our food despite the booking. Our delicious meals arrived in under an hour so we were really impressed. The food itself was amazing, their signature chicken dish was especially full of flavour. Cant rate this place high enough for service, atmosphere and quality food. Thanks, we will return!More

The Mallee Fowl was absolutely perfect for my grand-daughter's twenty-first birthday dinner. Our eccentric host, Frank, made us feel most welcome, and conducted us and all the other diners in the restaurant in a chorus of "Happy Birthday" for my grand-daughter. The food was magnificent...as well. I thoroughly recommend this venue for fine dining in a bush setting.More

Had lunch at Mallee Fowl today, and quite enjoyed it. We had booked, but it wasn’t really that busy when we arrived at 1:00. We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door and given menus & a table. It’s certainly a quirky...spot, basically a tin shed with painted concrete floor and loads of Australian memorabilia & U.S. number plates all over the walls, pillars & ceiling. Certainly a lot more authentic and interesting that your average themed pub or bar. Service was friendly and food was good.More

Apart from the totally Australian setting which is so impressive you can’t help but stop and take it all in, I’m quite stuck for words on how outstanding last nights meal was The food was family oriented but with a touch of creativity by the...chef that made the flavours in the food made it stand out I’ve eaten in a lot of places around the world and this definitely stands out as memorable SO HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU TRY IF YOU’RE PASSING THROUGH Hats off to the chef for the food and staff for their friendly and accommodating manner Thanks for a great nightMore

We dined at the Malle Fowl on the 30/12/21. Group of 30 with some kids all above 10 years old. We ordered at 7.50 pm and Meals arrived at 9.40pm . Nearly two hours for meals . Others in our group waited nearly 2.5 hours...with meals coming out after 10pm Waiting staff we only apologetic after we complained and blamed the kitchen. The owner didn’t even come and speak to us and the lack of clearing of tables was terrible . Spoke to the owner and he said what do you want me to do,? we suggested offer everyone complimentary beverage ! His response that would cost me a fortune I can’t do that. He’s lucky 30 people didn’t walk out and demand a full refund and see how much that would cost the business ! Everyone of us highly unlikely to returnMore

Was in the Riverland on a week's holiday with my wife in October 21 and wanted a little different dinner/night out. Had been to the Fowl in the past and decided to go again. Frank a perfect host and service was , as usual very...good. Food well cooked (both our meals). A little quiet this night, but gave us a chance to relax and talk easier. Normally ,packed with people in our experience. Covid restrictions may have limited people in area. Well worth your visit. Kids would love this place, inside & out.More

To my knowledge their hours are limited to evenings, and minimal days per week, so as per the previous response, best to call and check their opening times.
