Popped in here with a mate on a Sunday, we weren't local so stumbled across it by chance. What a find, as roast dinner was available all day, the place was full, but we managed to get a table due to a cancellation. I had...the roast beef, spuds and Yorkshire pud, delicious meat and generous portion with veg to share, great value and lovely staff made it. Booking advised, fantastic!!More

The owners / Landlords of this pub truly care about their customers , there is a friendly welcome on arrival and the menu is very good with a few specials for good measure , the food in fresh and the veg appears to be fresh...and not frozen like you find in some places , there is a roast of the day plus home made puddings , there are good beers , and the red wine is excellent . You will have to book for Sunday Lunch as it so popular with people coming across from Portsmouth on the Gosport Ferry .More

Love The Castle Tavern, we stay Nextdoor & it’s our favourite eating place. Enjoyed the lasagne & mushroom stroganoff last night, very tasty & cracking value, 2 meals for £15. Booked in again tonight, can’t wait.

We hadn’t visited the pub for over a year but pleased to see the refurbished interior We hadn’t booked a table but were shown to an available one straight away. We had two lovely roasts but unfortunately four rather loud yachty people sat next to...us extolling the virtues of pump out systems!! We put up with this but then two other friends arrived ready to encroach on our table. Enter Verity the gallant landlady who swiftly moved them on and apologised for their rudeness. Well done and thanks to her. We need more people like her to stand up to ignorant people. Brilliant people will go back to enjoy the wonderful foodMore

From the moment the doors opened we witnessed customer service as it should be. We were served fast and friendly. The food was amazing, perfectly cooked meats that melt in the mouth. The best Sunday Dinner in the county! We tried to book, 'off the...cuff', at short notice on a Sunday morning at 9:30am. We didn't get an immediate answer but, to our surprise, ten minutes later we got a ring back from the pub. Fully booked, they moved reservations around to fit us in.More

We are staying nearby and visited The Castle Tavern on our first night for dinner. A good menu choice. They even do two mains for £15, including roasts. My husband enjoyed a homemade pie & I chose lasagne, wonderful. They also serve a variety of...fish dishes. So good we returned again last night, scampi and mushroom stroganoff, just as tasty and I think we will be there again tonight !!. Friendly staff, tables cleaned thoroughly, nice ambience, good beers and a nice atmosphere.More

We ordered 3 different roast dinners , which was lovely couldn’t complain, the only thing that upset me was the waiters attitude! When she brought the meals to the table she was snotty because we told her she had given the wrong meal to the...wrong person in our group !More

Conveniently situated next to Gosport Marina this is a no nonsense pub offering hearty food, a selection of ales and wines. The menu is pretty extensive with a good list of specials on blackboards.

Hubby and I traveled over to meet up with our friend Nita, and Shirley, for an evening meal…..Nita reserved a table for us, to avoid disappointment. On arrival the staff were very friendly and helpful and showed us our table etc. When Nita & Shirley...arrived there was no pressure to order immediately, as we all like a good natter! There’s a very good selection on the menu, and also a specials board too! So plenty of choice! We ordered some wine, and real ale etc……then eventually we made our choices and ordered our food. There’s a great atmosphere in The Castle Tavern, a real authentic Pub! We all enjoyed our food, it was hot, tasty and filling too. We all had a wonderful evening before hubby & I needed to leave to catch the ferry, with Nita & Shirley waving us off…..fabulous!More
