Have been to many restaurants in mealhada but this place was by fare the best place for pig hands down 5 out of 5👏👍

Driving north we took pot luck & stopped at this restaurant in a town famous for suckling pig. It did not disappoint in fact we thought it so good that we returned when driving south. This time, being Sunday it was crowded with many people...waiting outside the entrance and a number waiting ticket was used, in fact we waiting over an hour. Still a delicious experience and we would recommend this very authentic restaurant.More

After eating out for two weeks in Portugal this is the worse restaurant so far. 45 euros for 3 people a plate of potato crisps a small plate of salad and some pork. The staff stood around watching tv. I would not recommend this place.

Stopped here with a friend who knew the restaurant and we were very impressed with the roast suckling pig. On arrival for lunch we were served with the bowl of olives and little pots of goats cheese. The cheese was fairly bland but with a...little salt and pepper it was quite good. The main was served with the pork cut into small pieces and was superb with a delicious crackling. Also served were chips, more like crisps, but freshly deep fried and an excellent salad. For dessert I had the chocolate mousse wasn't bad but nothing to write home about. Pleasant atmosphere for a family run restaurant but I would be happy to return again.More

Restaurante Tipico da Bairrada - serves decent food, however service can be quicker. Menu has good choices.

This is a family managed restaurant with a very Portuguese classical environment. Suckling Pig is wonderful but there are also other dishes according to the time of the year that can be chosen. Wild Rabbit, Mushrooms, and Suckling Pig livers are some of the choices.

When traveling north in Portugal one must stop for a meal of "leitao" and THE PLACE for it is the town of Mealhada.We have eaten there numerous times in our many visits to Portugal and had lunch the last time at Restaurante Tipico da Bairrada....The interior decor is typical Portuguese with heavy wood and leather furniture, tile floors ,and beautiful azuelos depicting Portuguese life mounted on the walls. The service was prompt and friendly but you go here for the "pig". It comes out with crispy skin, moist , fatty meat seasoned perfectly that is mouth watering delicious. The salada mista is fresh and the Portuguese chips delectable not to mention the excellent Vinho Verde which is the perfect accompaniment to a wonderful meal. Make it a point to stop by, you'll love it!!!More
