We wanted to try the suckling pig and asked some locals for recommendations. Every person recommended Meta as the best place to go. We went today and we were not disappointed. The place is large and busy. They have great precision in getting people seated...and waited on, and fed. We had excellent wine and the bread was very good. My husband and I ordered the pig and Chateaubriand. Both were excellent. The pig is what they are known for, but we equally enjoyed the beef. The side dishes were a bit unusual, but great. They were a salad and potato chips. How can you go wrong with that! They did their best to accommodate our lack of language skills. The people were friendly, well trained, and very helpful in giving us information on what to order. I highly recommend this restaurant.More

We ordered the roasted piglet, expecting to get a good meal, since it’s the traditional dish for that region. Instead, we got roasted pork, which is a crime to the tradition of Mealhada. The skin was not crispy, and it appeared to have been cooked...several hours before. Even the waiter, who looked tired of working in the place, has apologised for the poor quality food. This is not how roasted piglet is done, so I do not recommend this place.More

It’s been years that our family stops here for Leitão (roasted piglet). It’s like a family tradition so we keep it going. The place has grown to a huge place and it’s always packed. So do expect confusion and waiting time before you are showed...a table. The Leitao continues to be made the exact same way as ever before and that is amazing, considering the business is more commercial (sign of times...!) But still worthy every single time!! :)More

I had high expectations coming here, as several years ago this was one of the most famous restaurants to eat leitão. I guess the fame is based in the past. We ordered leitão which arrived to the table less than 5 minutes after we ordered....I was impressed with the service but became immediately disappointed as the meat was on the cold side. Although it was still tasty, the skin was not crispy, a sign that the pig has been roasted several hours ago and being warmed. Definitely not a positive experience and one I will not repeat again here. It is not a cheap place to be disappointed and come back. Will try another place next time.More

Have been countless times over the years, sometimes eating in sometimes to take away. Eat in is always busy and at times can take quite a while before you're served (>45min). Take away has always been quick enough. Roast piglet is about 70-80€ for 4...people. Totally worth it though.More

My husband and I were recommended to this restaraunt but had a bad experience with a very rude waiter. The food was expensive and we were taking a photo of the restaraunt when we were approached by a very arrogant and rude waiter to say...that we were not allowed to take photos. Our waitress actually took a photo of us and others in the restaraunt were also taking photos. It started out nice but ended on a bad note. My husband made a complaint about the waiter to the lady in charge and she ignored him I'm guessing he may of been family and was having a bad day !!More

I was passing Through thus town and stopped here. Baby pigs were served with brown source and potato chips. What a great meal. The pigs meet was so good. Enjoy
