Cottage Point Kiosk and Boat hire has again shown its self as one of Sydney's finest waterside venues. Convivial staff with a great food and beverage selection at fair prices given the remote waterside location. We had the fish curry, the chicken salad and shared a half bottle of French rose followed by the best coffee I've had for a while, all served with a smile. Will hire one of their little motor boats next time, looks like an inexpensive and fun way to explore the surrounding Hawkesbury River.

This spot is ideal for lunch or tea.
Having a view of boats bobbing on the water is special and gives one a sense of being closer to nature. There's something very tranquil to this spot.
We arrived early hoping to beat the crowds as the parking situation is diabolical as anyone who has been there will know! Unfortunately, we still had to park a long, long way from the kiosk. That aside, we had reserved a table on the balcony as there was a chance of rain.
Menus must be picked up and food and drinks ordered and paid for at the counter. We settled for the "famous" fish curry and a portion of the corn fritters plus drinks.
The fish curry consisted of a generous piece of barramundi atop a small tower of rice surrounded by the coconut milk/cream sauce on a banana leaf. It was absolutely delicious and definitely deserves every accolade. although there were chilie pieces, it was not hot but just a tad spicy. The 2 corn fritters were separated with a smear of avocado (a couple of slices of fresh would have been an improvement). a big piece of bacon and a tomato and red onion salsa plus some spinach leaves completed the dish. It was nice enough but not special.
Be aware that Sundays and public holidays have a 10% surcharge.

We have returned again to this venue because it offers 'boaties' a wonderful place to enjoy great food and wine while overlooking the marina and stunning scenery beyond. The Chilli Mussels with a Sourdough loaf is a fabulous meal and if you accompany it with the special individually imported French Pinot Gris it lifts the experience to an outstanding level. There is a public mooring for larger boats just off the wharf and room for tenders and small craft to tie up. We will be back again next time we are on the Hawkesbury!

The boat trip was great; lovely spot, peaceful, friendly operator.
The Kiosk and the staff there, though, were really unfriendly. "Snobby" was the word we all agreed on.
1. $8.55 for a packet of crisps. This place is far from cheap, despite it being marketed as the alternative to the cottage inn.
2. The cooked meals were decent, but nothing amazing. For $45, the cost of the mussels or the curry, they were nice enough, but not worth that price.
3. The staff were quite hostile, kicking us out exactly one minute past 4, the time it closes. This is despite our food having been delivered ten minutes before, so we didn't really have enough time to finish it.
4. They charged us overtime for the boat, even though we started 30 minutes late because we were waiting for the operator (whilst eating a $12 banana bread at their own shop!).
Lovely area; would recommend the boat, for sure - but bring your own food/drinks and skip going to this venue.

Cottage Point Kiosk is well placed half way up the Cowan Creek to make exploring this beautiful waterway easy. The little fishing dory we hired was new, clean and spacious for the 4 of us and very easy to manage. Besides collecting your boat here, I'd highly recommend their restaurant too, we started with fabulous bacon and egg rolls and ended our day of adventure with a glass of bubbles and a beer.
We know this waterway quite well but I would recommend doing some prior research of the beaches or bringing a map to make the most of your day.

We spent a glorious, beautiful half-day at Cottage Point, last weekend. Tranquille, nestled within the national park, peaceful, uncrowded. We were very glad for our early start. We hired a small explorer boat from the Kiosk, my partner and I and, with our little dog, we set off exploring the surrounding beautiful inlets. The waters were calm, with hardly anyone else around (yeah!), amazing sandstone shores reflected in the aquamarine waters. We saw a sea eagle close up, an egret, cormorants and observed the mesmerising (and fast) motion of jellyfish up close. We could have easily spent more than 2 hours exploring. Afterwards, a walk up the hill to stretch our legs and then back down to the Kiosk for lunch. The fish curry is sooo delicious. It was a great way to celebrate a special birthday. Oh, and the staff were warm, welcoming and friendly. We will definitely be back.

Don't have an item on the menu if you can't assure it's availability. When ordering the pork and fennel sausage roll I was met with a very blunt "we're sold out" no apology, no alternative suggestion, and a no care attitude. When you've come all the way here, parked a kilometre away up the practically vertical hill then get told what you want isn't available, that's just not good enough. Then without another option, settling for something else, only to then be served the wrong drink at the table and again get NO apology. Appauling. We had finished our meals before even the slightest indication of the replacement being served. After 20 minutes went to simply ask for a refund so we could leave and got an eye roll from the girl who was "just" making it and again NO apology. Not impressed.

Great coffee and muffins for quick morning bite . The fish curry is sensational for lunch accompanied with a bottle of wine or 2 . Have been here a number of times over recent months and love the food, the value and the service ... the location isn't too bad either ;-) Can get a bit busy on weekend so if driving you may need to hike a hundred metres down a a steep road, the kiosk access is also via a set of steps so could be difficult for some .

At the end of Cottage Point Rd, there is a stairway that leads down to the Kiosk which is well sign posted. Plenty of seating on the decking overlooking Cowan Creek and Devils Hole Bay. We were very fortunate with a sunny day. The service was fantastic and very friendly. A good choice on the menu. I chose the Famous Fish Curry which I completely understand why this is a signature dish on the menu. DELICIOUS and my wife had the Smash Me Avo - which was also delicious and such fresh ingredients. Very relaxing atmosphere.

We booked 2 fishing boats for our son to celebrate his 16th birthday fishing with his friends. They had a ball, caught a lot of fish and did some swimming in the small beaches along the way.
It was a great experience.

We had burgers and chips (two beef and 1 chicken). The patties were dry and tasteless and the chips were overcooked and brittle. The meal was unenjoyable and we all only half finished. For $26 per burger and chips ($90 in total between us) we were deeply disappointed in the value for money and the quality of the food we received.

We hired a boat for four hours on Sunday. It was a simple process online to book and simple to fill in paper work and have introductory talk about boat prior to taking it out. Check in is where you pay for food which is abit of a hassle as you have to wait for everyone in line first and Sunday morning was busy. Otherwise pretty easy and we were very happy with our time out on the boat. Four hours was a good amount of time for fishing and swimming at the beach. No luck with the fish and plenty of huge jellyfish around however scenery is beautiful. We did not eat at the restaurant however food looked good. Almost essential to book a table as it is very popular. No parking on site which means parking on the side of the road on a very steep road. So be prepared for a climb walking back to your car.

The barramundi curry is (hands down) the best dish north of the Harbour Bridge. Seems madness buying a fish curry at a boathouse but you will not regret it. My partner and I are frequenters, every time getting a curry and a bowl of chips to share.
They sell beer, wine and water in a beautiful (well off the beaten track) setting.

Hiring a boat from Cottage Point Kiosk and having some time on the Hawkesbury is a must for people visiting Sydney or if you live here. Simply magical. You are looked after impeccably by the staff and its an awesome spot to stop and have bite or a drink all year round. Can't recommend this highly enough.

Went for a great paddle for a couple of hours exercise around the boats and down an arm of the waterway and got back for a great breakfast. Beautiful outlook to sit and eat and the food was delicious- had the corn fritters which were some of the best I’ve ever had and could not resist the home made carrot cake which was soooooo good. Had to stop myself buying a second piece. Would love to come back here!
