I've dined at many Michelin starred restaurants, but would rate this restaurant as one of my top five dining experiences.
First, the setting is exceptional. Outdooring seating with good shade, views from all tables, and very few bugs.
Service is professional.
Food was the sort of modern fusion I experienced at Noma: local ingredients, innovative presentation, a lot of Japanese influence, and complex flavours.
Wine pairing was also well done and probably offered better value than odering off the wine list.

It’s impossible to add more to the overall dining experience at Cottage Point. We went for lunch on 3/11/24. The location is reached by an enchanting walk down steps to the riverside and to be honest, if you didn’t know where to go, you could easily miss the entrance. It’s a dreamy location with just the right combination of relaxed, but elegant overlooking the river, boats and sea planes. The setting is stunning and it was such an enjoyable lunch. The food was absolutely delicious and of an international standard. It’s a set menu and you can choose either a 5 or 8 course meal. We chose the 5 course with matching wines which were delicious. The sommelier was somewhat surly and slightly impatient but we laughed this off! The dessert wine was particularly lovely. All in all I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough.

My parents came to spend some time with us away on our boat. We chose lunch at Cottage Point Inn as our special occasion destination. We were happily greeted by staff on the pontoon as we tied up our tender, and shown to a waterfront table. The service continued to be nothing short of perfect. The food was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. I don’t enjoy seafood so my needs were accommodated for, and I was served course after course of culinary delights. It was the best gastronomic journey any of us have had for years. The wine selection was varied and we chose a fabulous bottle of sparkling wine. I’d give the Cottage Point Inn 10/10!

Food was amazing - we had the 5 course tasting menu with the extra caviar starter. Every course was delicious and just the right amount.
The service however was just really bad. The waiters were indifferent, especially the sommelier who could barely be bothered to tell us what he was pouring each time on our wine flight. We don't expect to become besties with the waiters when we go out, but a little interaction is always appreciated
Also the wine selection on the wine flight was quite hit and miss. 1 pinot Grigio, 1 Riesling, 1 pinot Grigio/riesling blend then a funky red organic wine (note to the sommelier - when you are only offering 1 glass of red wine in a 5 glass wine flight, no-one wants it to be an 'experimental' natural wine) and a weirdly fizzy desert wine.
Last time we did the seaplane/lunch thing we went to Berowra Waters. Food was equally as good, but the service and the wine choice were far far superior. Would recommend anyone to spend the bit extra and go there instead for a special occasion.

We booked this restaurant some months ago as a surprise for a friend who had been very helpful to us in difficult times.
The location is wonderful and quite unique. The food was delicious. Very high quality and beautifully presented.
Unfortunately we were given a table next to the kitchen door and the rather loud coffee machine. When we asked if we could sit outside we were told it was fully booked even though there were some empty tables when we arrived. This was disappointing given that we had booked some time ago and no effort or interest was given to our request. The service was perfunctory without much warmth. I suppose with such a gorgeous location you don’t have to try very hard.

We went in April for a special birthday celebration.. 6 of us in total. We had to wait at least 25 minutes between plates for the 8 course degustation menu. The pork medalion was over cooked and dry and the other tasting plates were a poor show of any chefs culinary style. The sea plane obviously had to leave at a specific time and other diners were left far too long.
We've tasted numerous wonderful degustation menus and this we cannot recomend.
The view and service couldnt make up for the low standard of fare.

We noticed that a ferry went from Palm Beach to Cottage Point (NSW) and the Cottage Point Inn and thought the Inn would be the perfect location for a special celebration. We checked with the restaurant if the combination of the ferry trip and lunch would work and was assured that it did because the ferry would arrive at Cottage Point at 12.15pm and depart at 2.15pm giving us plenty of time to enjoy the 3 course menu. We were taken to our table which had a lovely outlook. We were offered water, and received a single glass of tap water each – no more was offered again. Our entrée arrived at 12.45pm which was good but not great. At 1.50pm, over an hour after the entrée was served and 25 minutes before our ferry was due to return to Palm Beach, I found our waiter inside chatting to his colleagues at the bar and I enquired about our main course. The people at the table next to us had the same experience. We had been forgotten! Our main course arrived at 2pm and the dessert was shoved in front of us as the ferry came into site at 2.05pm. I didn’t get to dessert but what I ate of the main course was very disappointing.
We spent hundreds of dollars on the worst restaurant experience we have ever endured anywhere. The return ferry trip with the other disappointed and extremely angry Cottage Point Inn diners was a miserable journey. In contrast, the people who dined at the Boathouse at Patonga who returned with us to Palm Beach had a wonderful time.
This was an incredibly dreadful way to treat customers and there is no excuse for this appalling level of service and failure to deliver the expected quality of food.

The was a Christmas gift and due to a mix up (see my other review), we ended up here instead of one of the other places and it didn't matter because my partner and I had a fabulous time. We arrived by seaplane (how special does that make you feel!) pulling up next to other people who arrived by boat and then had three sublime and very unusual and tasty combinations of food.
Service was attentive and well paced. Given we were there for about three hours between drop off and pick up, the pacing was important and it was good. When the food arrived, we couldn't remember all the flavours in the things we had picked and the wait staff were clear and knowledgeable in explaining the techniques and ingredients to us. There were a few little "extras" thrown in which makes you feel that the prices, which are high are worth it. We sat outside, and the temperature, although not cold was cool so some people were making use of the rugs although being from Canberra we didn't need them!
Towards the end, the larger table next to us was just a bit loud and merry and the language got a bit colourful so we moved out onto the edge of the deck which was lovely to wait the last bit of time until the plane pick up came. Its certainly a special occasion restaurant and I'd recommend the full experience, arrive by plane!

This is a tranquil and beautiful spot in Sydney to have lunch. The last time I dined here pre Covid was fabulous - excellent food and service. It was the restaurant's first day back after lockdowns and a new chef on board (ex Momofuku Seibo). Service was good although food took a little while to be served. That's OK we understand but an appetiser offering during the long wait would have been appreciated.
Loved my entree of scallops but felt ripped off by my marron main as there was hardly any marron (2 fingers worth) and no other accompaniments on the plate. There were no options for other menu items like chips/potatoes although a simple green salad was provided. Dessert was banana parfait covered in chocolate and wattleseed and was OK. Others also had hit and misses in their 3 course selection. So that was a little disappointing. Given time it may improve - I hope it does as it's one of my favourite locations for lunch.
After lockdowns and wanting to support restaurants in Sydney, we came with excitement and would have showed greater appreciation if there was a sense of generosity in portion size, quality and finesse. Unfortunately, when the bill came, what was on the menu and website as a $110/3 course menu was charged at $115 each. A macchiato was $6.50! No big deal but it would have been better for the bill to have been amended as advertised and a bigger tip left. Hence, the 3 stars this time.

We returned to Cottage Point Inn to celebrate an important anniversary, and it was just as special, memorable, and delicious as always. Post-Covid the seating arrangements are even more generous so you really feel you are in a private, enchanting world. Incredible water views and a stunning sunset are complemented by an array of delicious dishes. We had the four-course tasting menu which - two amazing seafood appetisers, a satisfying beef main course and the renowned licorice cake for dessert. The service is warm, and unobtrusive which makes for an incredibly relaxing dining experience. This is a trip worth making.

We were interstate visitors who dined at cottage point 3 years ago. Back then it was excellent, this time disappointing. We had to serve our own water and wine. Empty wine bottle and glasses which were not going to be finished were not cleared even though we ordered more wine. Red wine list is overpriced. We had to ask for water to be refilled. The food was very flavoursome but on the small serving side. This is not a cheap restaurant and would have expected everything to be faultless.

Boarded a Water Limousine vessel at Newport which took the two of us to the Cottage Point inn for a three hour lunch. OMG the service and the food was sensational both from the Water Limousines Captain and the host of the restaurant. To start with they gave us champagne of the way to the restaurant with the vessel transfers, then we had the degustation menu for lunch at the restaurant. The food was some of the best food I have ever had, so much of it. The perfect romantic way to propose, she said yes. Thank you everyone Involved, you rock. Five Stars to all!!

We loved our meal at the restaurant, it truly was excellent. We had unfortunately booked the two rooms that are above the restaurant. There were many problems with the accommodation. Entry is an issue as you have to carry your bags down a large wooden staircase and then back up again which wasn’t easy. The rooms itself were average at best and for the price we were paying, we felt it was a rip off. It wasn’t completely clean either with hairs in the bathroom, crumbs in the kitchen and the odd stain on the furniture. It also had an overwhelming lemon scent upon entering which was nauseating. Finally, the laundry which sits between the 2 rooms is used by the restaurant staff so we could hear people entering and using it until quite late so didn’t feel very private either. I would not recommend this accommodation.

Yes of course the location is lovely.
However I had asked and booked an outside table under cover but found we were inside. On requesting an outside table we were offered a very small table which was not under cover.
First course I ordered was Moreton bay bug only to discover it was raw. This is unusual and at the very least I should have been alerted to the fact that ALL the first few courses were raw. The chef did substitute which was appreciated.
The main fish course was just too small. More like a degustation size and I can never bring my husband or sons as it is just not enough to eat.
However the dessert was spectacular and the wines were good . Also the staff were very pleasant and cannot be blamed for the slow pace given the restaurant was completely full.
Perhaps more staff, greater attention to the booking notes, an explanation of the menu and a reasonable size main course would improve what should be an exceptional experience.

My family has visited this restaurant for some years. It was my first time. The exterior is very shabby with weeds growing profusely in plant pots and the place feels as if it’s seen better days outside. Service is all male and very brusque. My ‘grilled squid’ entree turned out to be four fingernail sized slivers on top of a chlorophyll green soup. The flavour was not exciting. Main course, steak, was chewy and tiny. The vegetable side dish was the highlight. Dessert, unconstructed liquorice cake was pleasant but nothing to write home about. I live on the NSW north coast and our local hatted restaurant serves much superior food at just over half the price for 3 courses. The ferry trip to the Inn was very enjoyable, but next time I will continue on to have lunch at Bobbin Head.
