We tried this cafe early one morning after a long drive from Queenstown. Nice coffee and cakes, many options and the size was quite big. They also have gluten free option for the cakes, so that was a bonus. Locals flock the place and ordered serious comfort food for breakfast such as bacon, eggs, ham, sandwich and thick meats in... I love it here and we spent probably 80% of our time in Wanaka in this building! Go upstairs! (by the way the weather was bad)

Great breakfast, fresh, delicious home baking. Had wonderful banana loaf toasted with mascarpone cream - yum! All cabinet food looked fabulous and very enticing!

A popular location morning, noon or night. During our stay in lovely Wanaka we ate breakfast here several times for the same experience again and again... Delicious filling food with good coffee served in a timely manner.

Where do I start ... Everyday we went past the place was packed the cold food looked good in the front area a bit dirty but if you're that busy I'm guessing that happens. So we thought it must be great um no couldnt be more wrong 2 pizzas $22 each 12inch in size. Bit exy but if it was... More

You're dead right, that pizza is a shocker. And not at all like the pizzas we have a reputation for. Will investigate and rectify immediately. If you feel brave enough to give us another go I will shout you a free meal and a drink. Apologies for your experience. More

the food, the people, the outdoor heaters and they do serve nice beer that frequently changes. it's pricey but the place does have the monopoly in town. Really worth a visit

Thanks for your excellent review. We try really hard to achieve the things you have described so when we get it right it means a lot. In defence of our "quite pricey" status we buy local products fairly expensively yet our prices are mid range compared to other cafes and actually quite low for craft beer considering that our beer... Kai Whakapai translates from Maori roughly as 'food made good' and this is certainly the case here. Like many places these days there is a strong emphasis on local fresh food and produce and this place excels in this regard. meals aren't over;y complicated - just fresh and tasty. Lots of local beers too. Eat upstairs if you want a... More
