Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had visited this pub previously, and said we must go back for a overnight stay overnight. So we did! It did not disappoint, the outdoor area, with restaurant and rooms were all 10/10. Dinner in the dining room was next level. Loved all our meals,...large servings, and a beautiful wine to match! Staff were very friendly, and finished with a nightcap by the fire.. If you can organise a night stay rather than a drop in, do it!More

This was a fantastic place for dinner. Great food and enjoyed a couple of drinks around the fire afterwards. The rooms were comfortable. Breakfast was really good as well.

Our rooms for the night were just soo cozy and warm and very clean. Bed was super comfortable. Breakfast the next morning was seriously good, especially the waffles!! We stayed in a family room at the hotel, and had an afternoon and evening in the bar. The kids entertained themselves on the playground while we chatted with locals and tourists around an amazing outdoor fireplace. The bar meals were lovely, the atmosphere fantastic,...and the staff super helpful. I highly recommend!More

Cardrona Hotel, steeped in history, it was like walking into a magical rather large miners cottage. Candles everywhere, a beautiful setting. All the fires inside and out were roaring. We were seated by a deliciously enthusiastic Italian waiter. Food arrived very quickly, we all had...different varieties of fish, veg, followed by hot chocotates and ice cream round the fire. Delicious A visit to the Cardrona hotel is is like stepping back in time with a modern twist. A must when visiting the area.More

This is a destination in itself. Excellent food - we had loaded wedges that were massive but slightly too much sour cream for us, and the popcorn chicken - both absolutely delicious, served promptly and fires going in every grate making this a fantastic place...to visit and stay. Plenty of cardrona memorabilia for sale in the cute gift shop next doorMore

Been here before and it's always good. Very busy but we got a table and ordered at the bar. Service is good and we received meals in good time. A drink went down well as we'd been to the distillery down the road and needed...to remove the whiskey taste. Meals were good - quite noisy with a full house and more arriving every minute. Worth a stop, a meal and a drink.More

This is such a fantastic hotel. It is so interesting. There is so much to look at. We stayed the night and the room was just wonderful. After dinner we enjoyed a wine in a beautiful comfy lounge by the fire. A wonderful experience all...round. I highly recommend the Cardrona.More

We visited Cardrona pub on Easter Friday while attending Warbirds over Wanaka. Absolute archaic Easter trading laws staff demanded that we all as a group of 4 x Adults and 2 young children ea order a substantial meal to enable us to share a drink...while having lunch, We were then informed by over zealous staff we only had an hour to consume our drinks and if exceeded would have to order another meal each. This was nothing more than extortion, While being a regular visitor to this beautiful part of NZ we will not return to this establishment.More

We ordered our drinks and walked out to the beer garden which blew us away with there little glass houses everywhere, an old chair lift seat, a huge fireplace in the middle and a few historic buildings. If you’re ever driving between Queenstown and Wanaka...you have to stop here and check out one of New Zealand’s oldest pub.More

I love this hotel and am so grateful that its historic feel has been preserved. If you meet a local there, you can count on a friendly chat. This is because, generally, people from this part of the country will happily converse with complete strangers....A few portraits on the walls have no captions although they appear to be significant. I would love to know who they are about. We stayed one night and had a superb serving of venison for dinner. The salsa verde with the broccoli side was so good; if licking plates were socially permissable.......! I hope the staff enjoy Cardrona Hotel as much as I do.More
