Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We love this restaurant and have never been disappointed with anything, however on our last two visits we had some issues with our dishes not being warm enough. Both were seafood. The first night we went my wife's dinner had to be sent back and...the second time my dinner, the Misoyaki butterfish was surprisingly bad, it also was cold and had a slight fishy taste.More

Roy’s Waikiki is conveniently located in the back side of Waikiki — a perfect place of the bustling part of the city (however no particular views). Hawaiian and fusion cuisines are what it’s known for. Even though it’s considered an upscale restaurant, it’s all chill...and casual— no dress code required. The high popularly not only attracts tourists, but also many local families with all ages. It shows a very warm ambience. Table was nicely arranged upon our arrival and dinner sets, chef recommendations were well introduced. This dining brought us surprises and exceptional experiences which were exceeded our expectations. The portion of dishes were also larger than what we thought and the food was scrumptious and well-presented. I would specially like to give a thumb up to the Pork Shank. It was all tender, soft and flavorful. The sauce went so well with the meat which made the whole presentation very delicious. Although I’m not a meat lover, I still managed to eat it will full satisfaction. Another highlight goes to the poke. Not only because it’s my favorite local delicacy, the poke at Roy’s comes with rice too which makes the whole dish so filling and not to be overly salty. This dinner was a double date for us (+ a toddler) and we all mingled our dishes. We were able to try a various of food namely appetizers, main courses and desserts. They surely satiated all our demands and tastes. Nonetheless, Roy’s messed up one of our orders (since it was a busy Sunday night and we ordered quite a lot), they took their initiative to compensate us an extra dessert. It’s what a high-end restaurant would do though we didn’t bring up any words. Very well management! We all left Roy’s with joy, excitement and satisfaction. It’s a home sweet home memory. Don’t forget to stop by when you’re in Oahu too. PS: parking in Waikiki’s expensive. You can actually park somewhere and access to Waikiki by bus. Very convenient.More

Our second experience at Roy’s at Waikiki and there will be a third in the future ! The Staff are friendly , yet professional and the food is really delicious. Anyone who has been to Roy’s knows there is no real “ outlook’ other than...onto Lewers street , however it still feels intimate ( we sat outside ) and rather than being noisy, its actually a great people watching spot . Highly recommend a visit , you will thoroughly enjoy it !More

My first experience at Roy's and I was impressed. Our party of 4 was promptly seated at our reserved time and he waitstaff was attentive without hovering. We had a couple of shared appetizers and ordered Butterfish and Swordfish w/ crushed macadamia crust. All pronounced...their entree to be excellent. Our parking at nearby hotel lot was validated. I would say that while the food, waitstaff and atmosphere were wonderful, what really stood out was how relaxed and unhurried the dining experience was. I would definitely return. Prices are not for the feint of heart however, our bill for 4 with tip and no alcohol was $360, that said, overall an excellentdining experience.More

Another yearly visit to Roy's for an excellent meal, The Poke, kanpaci Crudo, the Butter fish, The Salmon and the Braised Ribs were all perfect and the Chocolate Source was the BOMB. Service is top notch . We also visited with manager Diva who is...such a beautiful person and Roy's is so lucky to have her. Wishing her happiness and hope to see her again.More

It was a really nice restaurant. My wife loved the crab cakes and the server was awesome and allows me to have a split plate of the macadamia crusted fish and the Miyazaki butterfish, both amazing but I’d lean to the butterfish. Our daughter had...the keiki pasta and seemingly loved it. Drinks are strong but tasty. We shared a delicious pineapple upside down cake for dessert. It’s experience but a good experienceMore

Food was very good, for Waikiki. you will find most restaurants are expensive and the food doesn’t compare to most international cities. Roy’s prices were on the high side of the expensive restaurants and the food was good.

Every time we are in Waikiki, we would go to Roy’s 2-3 times a week. However, this last time the butterfish didn’t have the same flavor, the ribs were fatty and the crab cakes were fishy. We were extremely disappointed in our food. However, wait...staff were very attentive (similar to previous visits) which is why we pushed ratings up to a 3.More

I had enjoyed dinner here over a decade ago and wasn’t disappointed for this visit. Their wine list was very nice although I picked wines that they couldn’t find at first as there was only one left of certain bottles. I thoroughly enjoyed my pastrami...rubbed duck. I have had duck more ways than I can count, and this preparation was a first. The waitstaff gave exemplary service. A special treat awaits you here.More

Absolutely incredible. This gem is located opposite the Halekulani Hotel. Really busy so book online. Has tables street front and indoors. An acclaimed Iron Chef has designed a menu that specialises in seafood especially sushimi and sushi. Fillet Mignon is also succulent. Something for everyone....The best is the bar. Incredible fast paced, in sync and unlike any I’ve witnessed worldwide. These two masters of the bar need their own stage. Look closely at the pics, two hands doesn’t mean one cocktail…no two hands, two drinks made. Be awestruck and sit at the bar whilst you wait for your table or just sit at the bar.More

Our server whose name escapes us was great along with the assistant and the guy that brang the food was great and enthusiastic about what he was serving us. We went with the pre fixe meal and it was so good and a great way...to get a little taste of everything. The appetizer was great along with the mac nut fish was excellent and the short rib was really good, after that we were quite full but managed to have the dessert that came with it. This is a more expensive dinner, but well worth it.More

Very mixed views. We have been to and really like other Roys so looked forward to this. But rather disappointed, in many parts. Getting a table even though reserved was a bit of a circus and took a while but table was nice as was...our server. Wine was crazy expensive but gad a few samples and ordered a bottle, maybe the best part of the evening. Getting dinner took forever and yes it was busy but they knew they were fully booked ahead of time. Several items (requests due to allergies) came out incorrectly and went through long process of replacements. The manager was very apologetic and did help get us a taxi back.More
