Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had the Malasadas after hiking up Diamond Head. They were the BEST things I ever tasted! Worth every minute of the wait, Worth every penny, Lived up to the hype. Exceeded all my expectations!

Bakery is a must try Oahu tradition for travelers. Get the Malasadas. Theyre like fluffy jelly filled beignets. Eat them fresh. I also took a box home on the plane and ate them the next day. I wouldn’t recommend doing that, better same day.

Had to hit up this popular spot for malasadas during my trip to Honolulu. They are served hot! I got one original ($1.85) which was great, and one filled with custard ($2.25) which was good, but the original was better. The coffee was good too...(large $3.75). The prices are very reasonable. For me this was an uber ride from Waikiki beach but not too long. There is no seating or anyplace to eat so it is to go only. The staff was OK. They were very busy. I was there at 7:30am. There is limited parking.More

Read about these somewhere before arriving in Hawaii. Happened across the bakery, and I don't think my waist will forgive me. Between the two of us, we ate six assorted puffs, trying different fillings. All were excellent, none were sugar-free.

Beautiful memories even after a month when I recall the taste of this amazing masaladas. There're several types of them, with different fillings, however the original were the best. Warm and fluffy covered in sugar, just amazing. Do come and try, free parking for customers.

The malasadas are fresh and warm. I got the guava and Haupia malasada puffs. I only got two. I should have gotten more. They weren’t greasy at all and the outside was coated in sugar. These are a must.

Ate at the food truck on our way to Pearl Harbor. The "donuts" were great, though I wasn't a fan of the custard in the filling. The cinnamon were the best in my book!

Leonard's Bakery is a must-visit for their famous malasadas. These warm, fluffy Portuguese donuts are simply irresistible. Friendly staff and quick service make the experience even better. Don’t miss this treat in Honolulu!

The only way to eat a masalade! Hot right from the fryer. We had a small wait but so worth it! Our Uber driver recommended so we had him stop (and bought him one too).

...Did you even really visit Oahu? This is an absolute must stop in Oahu. We went here straight away after landing and picking up the rental car. Our wait in line was maybe 5 minutes total? Since the malasadas were baked fresh it took about...15 minutes to get them but it was well worth the wait. So delicious. If there's no parking available, there's a Safeway nearby that you can park at off street for free.More

We stumbled upon this place not realizing it was a local hidden gem. This place was wonderful and was obviously a hit among the travelers as well as locals. It is a short uber away from the Waikiki Beach, but well worth it.

Fresh baked and filled with tasty macadamia flavored cream. Lots of flavors to choose from. Very popular, so expect a wait and parking is tight.

Just like our first visit to Hawaii 14 years ago, Leonard’s never disappoints. There’s a reason locals tell you to go here. They make the malasadas fresh and hot when you order. Our entire family loves them. There’s usually a line and the parking lot...is full but people come and go quickly as this venue is a well oiled machine in customer service. Try it if you haven’t.More

The main location was closed during our stay so while out and about found one of the trucks! We ordered one of each but after the first one, l was so disappointed. We will leave it at that!

All of the fillings should be safe. From what I observed, they don't use soy

To the best of my knowledge, Leonard's malasadas are made using butter and liquid dairy products (half and half and/or milk).

Yes. My son has nut allergies and he was good. No issues. I would ask just to be sure.
